The performance was supurb.
Dan of course. Because he's a fellow alcoholic
When Jack Torrence appeared.
Not as good as The Shining, yet what could come close, Stephen King accomplished.
The "hero" is nothing more than an uneducated killing machine.
Anyone trying not to impersonate a Texas accent
If you are in the military you'll probably love this book. I gained a better insight as to how this kind of person thinks and acts. I'm just not very impressed with his glorification of war.
Very funny woman. I thought most of the book was great and thought provoking. A little preachy at parts though.
I didn't get this for free as others apparently had done previously, but I did download the second book for free. I was disappointed in it's length. Seems like I stumbled in on a story in the middle of things with a past that I could not completely understand. Maybe more will be revealed in the sequel.
Kind of liked this book, my second of Mr. Cobin, adn it seems like he doesn't know how to end a mystery book. Well written, but predictable. Far fetched and drawn out.. Good narrator. Just not worth the 14 hour investment.
Steven Dos Santos has done it again with an incredible sequel to The Culling. I was enthralled by this book. The only negative was the narrator. A bit exaggerated and over-the-top in his characterizations, the reader was at times annoying. But the story and text were too compelling to have me turn it off. I would have listened to this in one sitting if I had started it sooner in the day. I was compelled to listen to this in two days. Bravo Mr. Dos Santos in another chaper in the Torch Bearer Trilogy. Can't wait for the next installment!
I have heard of this story line before; this of course is a new spin on the old story. I found myself trying to figure out the mystery immediately. I figured it out mostly within the first half of the book, but there were some twists. What grabbed me and kept me listening was hte narrator. What an excellent voice and so well paced. If you are as avid a mystery/thriller reader as I am, you might guess the evolving storyline, but don't be totally sure of yourself. There are surprises. The biggest being the discovery of this incredible narrator!
I enjoyed this sci-fi/techno/thriller a lot. The narrator gave an mediocre performance. His pacing was okay, but his character voices were over the top caricatures. But the book itself was very exciting and had me on the edge of the bed listening.
After reading many negative reviews AFTER I had already purchased the book in pre-order I was not expecting much. And maybe that's the key to this book. It's a King novel, that's for sure. Not the best (The Shining, The Stand, It) but definitely not as bad as people are making it out to be. Have no expectations, and you will be pleasantly scared! Enjoy!
I know John Grisham but I'm not sure I would order any future books if this is what it has come to. As far as Ms. Taber... she needs to know how to better pace her reading. It was very slow.
It felt more like a "60 Minute" segment with some fluffed up narrative
Some one with a better pace.
I came looking for a good legal thriller with suspense and court room action. What I got was 15 minutes of one chapter with suspense and one lame court room scene that wasn't even a trial.
Don't waste your time or credit. I kept thinking something would happen. I'm still waiting....
The book was okay but no remarkable pulp piece. What gives this book a boost is the full cast narration. If the production had limited the music to 5 seconds rather than 30 seconds at the end of each chapter, it would have been better.
