"Great Mystery! Recommend Highly!!!"
First, note that there is nothing wrong with the audio and those complaining should instead check their listening device or download a new copy. Just finished this book, my 2nd Barbara Holloway mystery and I was on pins and needles until the end. Great writing, enjoyable and believable characters. I plan to download all of the novels eventually. Set in Eugene, Oregon is also a plus as my husband is a UO grad. While I don't know the city and eateries, I'm sure he will when he listens. Keep writing these Ms. Wilhelm! Good job!
"Love Love Love Aunt Dimity and all the characters!"
Endearing, sweet and quirky!
The story of Lori Shepherd, her mother's friendship with Dimity Westwood and Bill and the Harris' is just unforgettable. I can't wait to catch up with all the stories.
No, but I really like her narration.
No special moment other than every minute!
I've been a fan of Nancy Atherton's Aunt Demity books for years and had been introduced to the series via the 1st two books which I got from the library. I just found an email I had written her in 2010 pleading for Audible books. She replied that "apparently, they didn't sell well enough to inspire Recorded Books to make more recordings." I also implored Audible to record them and YEA -- they have. Thank you, Thank you!
"Love this Maisie Dobbs Mystery series"
I just love this mystery series and can't wait to download the next book. I think Miss Hick's narration was wonderful and don't understand the other reviewers issues, unless there was a technical issue early on. Her voices and dialects is just spot-on for everyone. The story line is excellent and is suspenseful. I was definitely caught off-guard by "who dunnit" -- total surprise for me anyway.
"Warms my heart"
I discovered this Yada Yada series about a year ago and started at the beginning with book 1 then book 2. Just finished this third book, and while I thought nothing would top the others, this did. I'm almost afraid to start the next one as this was just so rich and REAL! First of all the narrator is wonderful. If you know the story of the prayer group's beginnings, the Yada Yada sisters really become full Christian sisters in this edition. They've had many challenges since they were thrown together at a women's conference including several tragedies that could have pushed them apart permanently. But they prayed, and prayed and really...I know its a fictional book...I found myself praying for them and with them. If you haven't been introduced to the Yada Yada's, start at book 1 and then continue on. You won't be disappointed.
"Enjoyed this book immensely!"
I have listened to many biographies and this one definitely ranks very high. I loved the way Condoleezza wove the story of her parents, grandparents and her own growing up and career seamlessly together....good, good writing and very interesting.
Why Condoleezza Rice, who else?
Too many to choose, but I think when the Stanford students were having a sit-in to object to a policy that Provost Rice had implemented...Condoleezza's response was priceless. You'll have to listen to find out. :-)
Both laugh and cry...just a very enjoyable book especially because she reads it herself.
I'm going to see if her latest book is on Audible. I sure hope so.
"Excellent Thriller A++++"
I hated for this one to end although I wanted to see the bad guy to get what he deserved. Before I listened I read some reviews and one said that the action stopped half way through the book. I kept waiting, but never figured out where that reader thought it stopped. Anyhow, I loved this story and think Michael Connelly writes the best thrillers...this one was just perfect.
"Fabulous Listen!"
I loved this book so much and like others have mentioned...did not want it to end. I finished it Friday at noon while walking and now it's Sunday night and I'm sitting here wondering how Skeeter is doing with her new job and is Aibileen adjusting to her new responsibilities. I loved all the characters, even those who were not even likeable. Kathryn -- you have a gift...please write us another story...or even better a sequel to this one!
"Go Sarah Go!"
I loved this book. I was a Sarah Palin supporter in the election and this book convinced me that my gut instincts in 2008 were completely correct. This book (ready by her) is in her words...no one else, and it's completely candid. Sarah is funny, serious and very informative about herself, her family and her political views. I'll vote for her again, given a chance!
"Don't miss this one!"
Don't miss this wonderful listening experience. Stephen King's writing does not disappoint. I have not read his earlier books and in fact started with his wonderful tome "On Writing," which was part autobiographical/mostly how he crafts his tales. This book, Duma Key is truly a product of a master's craftmanship. The word painting, story line, suspense and character development is incredible. Every night I begged my husband to start listening to it on his iPod. Tonight I walked another trip around the block just to finish the last 30 minutes and I was not disappointed. What else can I say? Don't miss the opportunity to hear this.
"Very Enjoyable"
What an interesting listen! I really enjoyed the subject, content and the way in which Elyse and Paula chose to craft their story. Ok, that's doesn't tell you much. How about this? These two women in their mid thirties find out that they have a sister, but not just a sister...in fact, one with whom they shared a womb for 9 months! After they locate and meet one another, they "join forces" to track down the circumstances around their separation. The story is told from each twin's perspective in alternating segments. You will learn about them, other separated twins (& triplets), the adoption process, and other very interesting biological and psychological facts. Believe me, this could have been a very boring subject...but it is NOT. I'm still thinking about them and have checked out their web site to see how they are because I feel as though I know them. The narrators are excellent..I thought perhaps the girls had read their own parts, but they had not. The narrators are very convincing though and it doesn't take long to know who is who by the voicing. If you're interested in twins and want a good story, listen to this.
