What would have made That Loving Feeling better?

What could Carole Matthews have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I just finished reading Carole Matthews A Cottage by the Sea and loved it so much that when I finished it and saw a new book by her I just purchased it immediately.

However big mistake I did not listen to the sample. The narrator is dreadful. The story boring I have tried three nights running to read this but cannot get past the first hour.A 70 year old mother wanting a boob job her husband has just announced he is gay. The adult son has naked men in his room the daughter is lazy, whatever was I thinking not checking this dreadful book out.I loved Carole Matthews Summer Daydreams as well which is probably why I did not checkthis book out. I tend to purchase by the author unfortunately this does not always work except for Jill Mansell or Milly Johnson never have they written a bad book.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Julia Franklin?

Jane Collingwood preferably altho I do not think even she could have saved this book.

    Any additional comments?

    Don't bother with this one.

What would have made Welcome to Rosie Hopkins' Sweetshop of Dreams better?

I purchased this book in desperation as there is nothing new from my favourite authors.
It was so light I just kept skipping many parts just to get through it. The storyline was just not for me.

Would you ever listen to anything by Jenny Colgan again?

I have already purchased Christmas at the Cupcake cafe at the same time and only listened to a couple of chapters and found it boring so jumped to this book.
So if that one is similar to this no I would not.
I like a book with a bit of substance but there was nothing much to this at all.

Have you listened to any of Jane Collingwood’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Jane Collingwood is fantastic and the ONLY reason I listened to the book at all.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment that once again I have wasted a credit.

What would have made Married by Christmas better?

    Reading a paper copy.

What was most disappointing about Scarlett Bailey’s story?

I have tried to listen to the story quite a few times however the narrator is just so
bad I am unable to listen to the book.
I cannot believe this book was published with this narrator, she sounds like a kindergarten child playing a part in a school play. I hoped after the first couple of chapters she might improve but in some places she gets much worse.
I feel so sorry for the author the story may well be fine but I doubt too many people will listen to the book. I forwarded to chapter seven to see if things improved and burst out laughing at the american accent of the hotel reception it was just so pathetic.

Would you be willing to try another one of Olivia Konig’s performances?

Never not even if they were free.

Disappointment that I have wasted a credit.

What did you love best about Breakfast at Darcy's?

Breakfast at Darcy's was an enjoyable light novel. I purchased this after reading Ali McNamara's other novel from "Notting Hill to New York Actually" which I really enjoyed. The setting for this novel on a remote island off the coast of Ireland is different. I found the story interesting but felt there could have been more detail on the roles the people coming to live on the island were going to play. There were areas for instance, Darcy going to buy chocolate at the shop, what shop? In the planning for the island settlement there had been no mention of the shop. I would have preferred a bit more detail, however having said that I really enjoyed the book it was light and a bit different.
I loved the way the author bought the characters to life I felt you really got to know and like them.

What other book might you compare Breakfast at Darcy's to and why?

I couldn't compare it with other chic lit novels this was not your usual romance more of an light interesting story with a touch of romance.

Have you listened to any of Beth Chalmers’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Beth Chalmer's performance was fine. I have not heard her other performances.

If you could rename Breakfast at Darcy's, what would you call it?

I am not sure this title was the right one. I feel it implies Darcy may have run a cafe or something. What else to call it? I do not know.

What did you love best about From Notting Hill to New York...Actually?

The colourful descriptions of New York City thruout the book you felt you were there.

What did you like best about this story?

The many different twists, at first I was not sure about this book but once Scarlett and Oscar arrived in NYC I did not want it to end.

    Which scene was your favorite?

The last scene the treasure hunt.

This was a good easy listen nothing too deep but I really enjoyed it. Real chick lit, if this is the genre you enjoy this is for you.

Would you try another book from Lucy Dawson and/or Jane Collingwood?

Jane Collingwood is fabulous this is the main reason I purchased this book. No I would not buy another book from this author.

What was most disappointing about Lucy Dawson’s story?

This is possibly the worst book I have ever read out of the couple of hundred of books I have purchased on this site. I downloaded it last night and after the first few chapters I just could not listen to any more. I deleted it from my ipod. I have rarely done this with the books I buy. Mia finds out her boyfriend is obviously having an affair. The story then just becomes ridiculous firstly she just happens to find where his girlfriend works then lives so on and on. This girl is looking for a flatmate Mia just happens to be offered the key to this girls flat from a neighbour and be able to enter her flat, then every thing that happens is just so far fetched the things she does are totally unbelievable. There was no one in the book from what I read that the author even made likeable. I think you get the picture.
I love this genre and only purchased this author as there is nothing available under the usual authors I buy. I already have all of Jill Mansell, Tasmina Perry Tilly Bagshawe Louise Bagshaaw, Patricia Scanlan, Danielle Steel, Milly Johnson. I buy all of these authors as they become available but this does not happen regularly. If you enjoy the work of these authors you will be disappointed with this as the quality of this book is nothing like the quality of these authors.

Have you listened to any of Jane Collingwood’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes she is always fabulous. Even she could not save this book for me.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from His Other Lover?

All of them. There was nothing I liked about this book.

After backpacking her way around Europe journalist Sarah Turnbull is ready to embark on one last adventure before heading home to Sydney. A chance meeting with a charming Frenchman in Bucharest changes her travel plans forever. Acting on impulse, she agrees to visit Fredric in Paris for a week. Put a very French Frenchman together with a strong-willed Australian girl and the result is some spectacular - and often hilarious - cultural clashes.
