Doctor Impossible, evil genius and diabolical scientist, has tried to take over the world in every way imaginable, but this time is going to be different. He'll have to contend with Fatale, however, a rookie superhero on her first day with the Champions, the world's most famous superteam. She's a patchwork woman of skin and chrome, a gleaming technological marvel built for the next generation of warfare.

Would you consider the audio edition of Soon I Will Be Invincible to be better than the print version?

Haven't read the book, so I can't say. But the audio version is one of my favorite narrations ever! I listen to audiobooks constantly, so I have a strong appreciation for good narration. Not only was the narration superb, but the writing was such that the story kept moving at a good pace, the plot was immersive, and character development was awesome. I really enjoyed learning about the characters and experiencing their personalities come out. The main character is one of my all-time faves!

What other book might you compare Soon I Will Be Invincible to and why?

The Devil You Know, by Mike Carey. The stories are nothing alike, but the character traits of he main characters (i.e. cynicism, their type of humor, strength of personality, etc).

    Which scene was your favorite?

    There are so many.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Nothing extreme. I did thoroughly enjoy it. And I laughed quite a bit.

    Any additional comments?

If you're on the fence, get it. You'll enjoy it!

In that first volume, we were introduced to the remarkable world of Roshar, a world both alien and magical, where gigantic hurricane-like storms scour the surface every few days and life has adapted accordingly. Roshar is shared by humans and the enigmatic, humanoid Parshendi, with whom they are at war.

What made the experience of listening to Words of Radiance the most enjoyable?

The story just gets better and better. The narration is superb. The magic and the development of the main characters is captivating. As the characters grown and build relationships find themselves, it's just exciting to be there with them and share that experience. The length of the book is another big hit for me. I love that it's so long and still kept me riveted the entire time!

What other book might you compare Words of Radiance to and why?

The first book in the series: The Way of Kings.

Which character – as performed by Michael Kramer and Kate Reading – was your favorite?

Hard to pick - it's such a big world Sanderson has imagined for us.And really, the villains are so good at being bad. Not just as bad-guys though (or bad gals). But the complexity and depth make the experience so much more...

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

    Laughed lots. No crying though.

    Any additional comments?

    Well worth the price!

"My name is Kvothe. I have stolen princesses back from sleeping barrow kings. I burned down the town of Trebon. I have spent the night with Felurian and left with both my sanity and my life. I was expelled from the University at a younger age than most people are allowed in. I tread paths by moonlight that others fear to speak of during day. I have talked to Gods, loved women, and written songs that make the minstrels weep...."

This is a tale of sorrow, a tale of survival, a tale of one man's search for meaning in his universe, and how that search, and the indomitable will that drove it, gave birth to a legend.

Sci-fi/fantasy is one of my favorite genres, and this novel was just very enjoyable. The narrator was great, and the story is engaging. The characters are well-rounded and as you go deeper into the story, you just want more and more. Be sure to check out the second part. I'm eagerly awaiting the next installment!
