Six months after nearly losing their lives to a serial killer in New York City, FBI Special Agents Ty Grady and Zane Garrett are suffering through something almost as frightening: the monotony of desk duty. When they're ordered to take a vacation for the good of everyone's sanity, Ty bites the bullet and takes Zane home with him to West Virginia, hoping the peace and quiet of the mountains will give them the chance to explore the explosive attraction they’ve so far been unable to reconcile with their professional partnership.

Would you try another book from Madeleine Urban and Abigail Roux and/or Sawyer Allerde?

    probably

What did you like best about this story?

    the two main characters

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

tried to play down the fact that every quote has an adverb describing how the statement is made.

Do you think Sticks and Stones needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

it already has one, i believe.

    Any additional comments?

I really do loved the two main characters, Ty and Zane. It really is tiring listening to the flurry of 'wryly, wearily, sarcastically, wearily." Someone should edit these a bit.

Greece in the age of heroes. Patroclus, an awkward young prince, has been exiled to the kingdom of Phthia to be raised in the shadow of King Peleus and his golden son, Achilles. “The best of all the Greeks”—strong, beautiful, and the child of a goddess—Achilles is everything the shamed Patroclus is not. Yet despite their differences, the boys become steadfast companions. Their bond deepens as they grow into young men and become skilled in the arts of war and medicine—much to the displeasure and the fury of Achilles’ mother, Thetis, a cruel sea goddess with a hatred of mortals.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Song of Achilles to be better than the print version?

I really only get to listen to books these days. I have a fairly long commute to work so books have become my favorite road companion. In this case, on listening to Song of Achilles a second time, I went on line to order a hard-cover print edition. I felt compelled to actively read the words - just beautiful writing.

What did you like best about this story?

It's hard to say what I loved the most - I suppose the language... Ms. Miller's writing is beautiful and seamless and poetic. Frazer Douglas reads the text with sensitivity and character and heart. I could listen to him read anything.

    Which scene was your favorite?

I don't cry at books, but listening to the scene where Patroclus goes off to battle in the guise of Achilles, I found myself in tears on each hearing. Again - at the end of the book, I had to wipe tears from my eyes.

If you could rename The Song of Achilles, what would you call it?

I wouldn't - the title is perfect... It fits in beautifully with Patroclus' final 'this and this and this' speech.

    Any additional comments?

If I had only one book to listen to for the rest of my life - Song of Achilles would be it. I love it.

  • The Secret Tunnel: A Mitch Mitchell Mystery

Handsome, muscular Edward "Mitch" Mitchell made a splash in James Lear's spicy variation on the British cozy mystery, The Back Passage. Now he's back in this steamy send-up of Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express, travelling from Edinburgh to London for a reunion with his ex, "Boy" Morgan.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Secret Tunnel to be better than the print version?

I haven't seen the print version, but I suspect so. I LOVE the narrator and imagine that Mitch would sound just like him - in an American sort of way.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Secret Tunnel?

There are too many to mention...

What does Daniel Carter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He's got a wonderful voice. He's interesting to listen to and sounds so charming.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Of light and dark in the tunnel, in the bedroom and on film.

    Any additional comments?

I could listen to as many of these books as Daniel Carter is willing to read. I enjoy the book and the presentations!
