  • Fatally Flaky

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 26 mins)
    • By Diane Mott Davidson
    • Narrated By Barbara Rosenblat

It's been a long, rainy summer for Goldy Schulz, who is engaged in planning wedding receptions for what seems to be all of Aspen Meadow. It's bad enough that Billie Attenborough, the bride from hell, wants to move the location to the Gold Gulch Spa just a scant two days before tying the knot to her doctor fiance. Then Doc Finn, best friend of Goldy's godfather Jack, is killed when his car tumbles into a ravine. But Jack thinks Doc was murdered because of research he was doing at the spa....

K.D. Keenan says: "Goldie is fun, and fun is all you get"

I have loved her books since the first one - but she has gotten away from including recipies. And the last few have been lacking. I truly like these characters but I found myself shaking my head over the stupid things some of them did. I even yelled at my IPOD a few times. Just did not enjoy this listen as much as I had hoped......

  • World Without End

    • UNABRIDGED (45 hrs and 40 mins)
    • By Ken Follett
    • Narrated By John Lee

In 1989 Ken Follett astonished the literary world with The Pillars of the Earth, set in 12th-century England. Readers and listeners ever since have hoped for a sequel. At last, here it is. Although the two novels may be listened to in any order, World Without End also takes place in Kingsbridge, two centuries after the townspeople finished building their exquisite Gothic cathedral. The cathedral is again at the center of a web of love and hate, greed and pride, ambition and revenge.

Laura says: "Repetitive, but still enjoyable"
    "Wished it would never end"
What did you love best about World Without End?

The story, even though not pleasant at times, was so intriguing. I could not wait to get back to it and hear what happened.

What was one of the most memorable moments of World Without End?

I was mesmerized by the architechtural parts of the book - the stone cutting and fitting to build the church and make the arches hold and the construction of the bridge. I am a nurse and was really captured by the part about the plague and how they came to the conclusion that handwashing would help.

    Any additional comments?

I keep this on a favorites playlist and have listened to it more than once.

  • Lush Life: A Novel

    • UNABRIDGED (13 hrs and 1 min)
    • By Richard Price
    • Narrated By Bobby Cannavale
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

What do you do? Whenever people asked him, Eric Cash used to have a dozen answers. Artist, actor, screenwriter...But now he's 35 years old and he's still living downtown, still in the restaurant business, working night shifts and serving the people he always wanted to be. What does Eric do? He manages.

    Richard Delman says: "Eerily real"

I listen to books all the time as I travel/drive with my job. I can usually muddle through if I don't get into or like what I am listening to. But I could not handle this one - I stopped listening early on as I could not figure out who the book or what this book was about....not my kind of listen. It's in my library but don't think I will be giving it another try. Wish I could get my credits back......

  • In This Mountain

    • UNABRIDGED (15 hrs and 33 mins)
    • By Jan Karon
    • Narrated By John McDonough

In the little town that's home-away-from-home to millions of readers, life hums along as usual. Dooley looks toward his career as a vet; Joe Ivey and Fancy Skinner fight a haircut price war that takes no prisoners; and Percy steps out on a limb with a risky new menu item at the Main Street Grill.

Mary says: "Top Of The List"
    "The Mountain Top"

The folks in Mitford have become like family to me. These books take me to a place that is so warm and comforting. I am so sorry the series has ended. I know I will listen to these books again and again. What a refreshing change from murder and sex, and etc................
