  • Twain's Humor: A Collection

A collection of 23 of Twain's funniest stories and essays, ranging from tongue in cheek to the fantastic.

    Ronald says: "Twain's Humor"
    "Poor narration"
    Overall

I have ready everything Twain has ever written, but this narration spoiled it all. You can hardly understand what the narrator is saying -- he slurs the words into each other and lets the sentences run onto each other. I think the narrator underestimates Twain: reading him as if he had the voice of a "hick" when in reality Twain is teasing both the upper-class and the "hicks." I would not recommend this title and would return it if I could.

A Signature Performance: Elijah Wood becomes the first narrator to bring a youthful voice and energy to the story, perhaps making it the closest interpretation to Twain’s original intent.

    James says: "Worthy "signature" premiere"
    "Great narration!"

Loved this narration. At first I felt like he was struggling a little to differentiate the characters, but after about an hour or two, Elijah really hit his stride and he did a fabulous job. I hope he narrates more books.

English magicians were once the wonder of the known world, with fairy servants at their beck and call; they could command winds, mountains, and woods. But by the early 1800s they have long since lost the ability to perform magic. They can only write long, dull papers about it, while fairy servants are nothing but a fading memory.

I listened to this book spellbound over the course of about three weeks. It was wonderful. The book is well written and the narration is excellent. I would highly recommend it.
