"You need to be a real history buff..."
I like history but this is way too particular for me to enjoy and keep interest for such a long listen. Someone with a major in Church history for that period might appreciate though.
something more general (in history still)
The narrator is excellent and probably the reason why I could hold on until mid point in the book.
I would use the abridged edition
The potential subject matter was very good, but I lacked knowledge of places and names to enjoy it.
"A breeze to listen to..."
Definitely. Very well presented, concise, not boring at all.
It is presented in a simple style and natural way of talking, as if he traces the roots of western culture at a kitchen table.
Not to be ashamed of...
You do not need to be a history buff to appreciate the content of this audio book. The author does a great job and makes the subject-matter both interesting and easy to understand.
"Quietly running...dynamo-like!"
Maybe, depending of the subject
redundant question
Narration is good
No, everything is covered and at times redundant.
First 5 chapters are really interesting. It gets boring in the middle, where she is trying to fit temperaments into the evolution mumbo-jumbo. It gets better a few chapter after that, where very good suggestions are given for child education, both at home and in school. Overall is a good read.
"Just getting better!!"
Definitely recommend. This is Flynn at his best. A delight to see common sense and dedication triumph over politics and petty aspirations.
Finished it in a few days. Delayed sleep until 2:30am to get the end of the story.
Well, he is simply the best. period. It is simply not Mitch Rapp when told by someone else, however good he is.
It was nice to see Rapp getting upset with the President.
Would have been nice to invite Canada's Prime Minister for Memorial Day.
"Boring"
To tell how philosophy itself developed over the years would be more interesting than the details of the lives of the philosophers.
I will look for it. Do not know yet.
The narrator was great. No complaint.
None
"Going back to Vince Flynn..."
Promising at first but too complicated and too long...ending is leaving with a sense that you listened in vain to all this......
I am listening now to 'The Last Man' from Vince Flynn.
No one. He is the best.
a different ending, that is for sure. I would also have cut down on the number of building they had to cover.
I will not go back to Scott Harvath
"A tad long, but a goodie..."
Didn't read the print version
none that i know of
all the accents, the color of the late 50's...so much in fact; he is just excellent
If you could save JFK
The afterword by the author could have been more interesting. I was waiting for some practical applications on the butterfly effect in the present, for example. I was so eager to get to the end that I found the romance part too long...Overall excellent.
