    Alas, I will never be a Victoria's Secret model living in New York City! This novel takes its readers (listeners) to another life. After all, isn't that transportation one of the joys of fiction reading? I recommend this novel to anyone whose mind needs to escape from their own reality.

    This book aptly presents a tangled web of step-families and related complications. Although step-families are, indeed, becoming more prevalent, I personally haven't run across many fiction books on the subject. Via the female characters' voices, the author vividly echoes thoughts and feelings I've experienced in my 4 years as a step-mother. I find it cathartic to know I'm not alone in my experiences, even if my allies are fictional characters from another part of the world! I recommend this novel specifically to women who have struggled with step-motherhood, one of the most difficult roles to play.
