A different take on the traditional vampire story. Definitely written by men who like guns. The male narrator made the women sound weak and the story was a little drawn out. I liked the ending, though.
Not made females sound like helpless victims.
That would be interesting.
I only own the audio version.
I don't have any comparisons. It was just a good old fashioned ghost/haunted house story from the beginning. The sex was kept to a minimum and the story just flowed and kept my interest from the beginning. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author.
She has a very soothing voice.
This story brought out so many emotions in me that at times I had to remind myself that it was a work of fiction. Some spoilers ahead, so beware if you continue reading.
This woman allows herself to be physically and emotionally abused repeatedly. She has no respect for herself, long before she met Adair and his minions and I had a hard time trying to enjoy the story when this woman was so abused.
Perhaps. The writing was well done, I just could not get past the doormat - Lenore.
The narration was fine except that the narrator mispronounced several words.
I know there are two more in the series. I've read some of the reviews so I am not sure I'm going to listen to/read the next. I may just end with this story.
I enjoyed the style of the story. The main character reminded me of Harry McGlade from the Jack Daniels series. He was funny, goofy and immature but he managed to keep his head and get the job done.
A sad one for me because I'm a dog lover. Eat the humans but please leave the dogs alone, ok? I'll just leave it at that.
No particular favorite.
No but it was an entertaining listen while commuting to work.
This book has no likable characters in it whatsoever. I love audiobooks so I can do task-type activities while still enjoying a book. One of those activities is my work commute. Wow, what a downer to listen to on my way to work. I would not recommend this book to anyone. I had the ending figured out early on and the best part was near the very end. This could have been a short story instead.
Depressing and whiny.
The end result was a decent story but there are far too many long, drawn out boring parts to this book. Based on other reviews on the Internet, I thought this would be an awesome listen. I nearly returned it but decided to give it a chance.
Do yourself a favor and skip this one. Find a synopsis somewhere else and save yourself 15 hours.
Cut out 4/5 of the endless, boring background story.
None of the characters were favorites. I actually found all of them quite annoying.
Save your money and move on. This has to be one of the most dreadful stories I've ever listened to and a complete waste of my life that I'll never get back.
