It's hot. It's dry...very dry. There was this thing once called The Wet, which no one believes in. Practically everything that's not poisonous is venomous. But it's the best bloody place in the world, alright?

Mr. Planer NAILED the Australian accents. Yes, this novel is a long poke at Australia, but so what? I laugh and laugh everytime I listen to the novel. (I seldom read the books because the narrators are so talented.) And the story has more going on than gently teasing Australia. I have seldom had more fun in the company of Ridcully and his senior wizards.

Sam Vimes is on a well-deserved holiday. But for the commander of the City Watch, a vacation in the country is anything but relaxing. The balls, the teas, the muck - not to mention all that fresh air and birdsong - are more than a bit taxing on a cynical city-born and -bred copper. Yet a policeman will find a crime anywhere if he decides to look hard enough, and it’s not long before a body is discovered, and Sam - out of his jurisdiction, out of his element, and out of bacon sandwiches (thanks to his well-meaning wife) - must rely on his instincts, guile, and street smarts to see justice done.

    Story

Sam Vimes is one of my favorite Disc World characters and I loved going on another adventure with him. The story is as competent and entertaining as ever, plus we get to know Lady Sybil better. Young Sam is out of diapers and exploring the world in a crappy way. The narrator also delivers a competent performance. I gave it 3 stars because Nigel Planer is better at doing voices and performing. In general, Mr Briggs is good, especially his voices for Sam Vimes, Lord Vetinari and Angua, but when it comes to comedic timing, performance quality and the ability to give characters the own voice, I miss Mr. Planer. Please still buy "Snuff!" All Disc World novels are not to be missed and I thoroughly enjoyed this latest installment.
