His inner certitude aboutreligious truth permitted him to accept the world and its freedom and it endowed him with a childlike innocence. In what many consider to be his best work, G.K. Chesterton portrays St. Thomas in a light that few have imagined.

    Chesterton is opinionated and can even be intemperate.
    He also has real insight to the greatness of Thomas' achievements--often expressed in striking and original ways.
    Unfortunately, this reader makes Chesterton sound more mean-spirited and less self-aware than he was.
