This novel really follows up on what we expect from John Sandford. The twists and turns of this one does not disappoint. It really gets into the mind of the criminal and the cop as the desperate criminals try to figure the next move to cover their crimes, and the cop struggles with just enough information to keep him going, and questioning why this is happening. Great listen!
This novel has got it all. Mystery, plot twists, manipulation, colorful characters, and the prose is beautiful!. You can almost smell the bayou and the odors of the destruction of New Orleans. You can see the sunset and hear the birds in the vivid portrayals of the scenes of Louisiana. Thumbs up for the narration. His soft voice and smooth southern drawl combined with memorable voice characterizations make you forget only one person is reading. This actor/narrator is one of my favoites in the movies he has done. Bring him in for more narration anytime!
