The combination of DeMille and Scott Brick has developed one of the most engaging teams in popular fiction. John Corey and Kate Mayfield. This fast-paced mystery is pure fiction, but works as plausible in our time. But more importantly, from a listener's standpoint, the combination of a top-notch thriller and the wit in DeMille's writing, aided by Scott Brick's perfect narrative, we are given an immensly enjoyable 18 hours of audiobook listening. If you loved The Lion's Game, you will love this reading too. DeMille is at the top of his writing skills, too bad it will probably be 2 or 3 years before we have a new book again. this book is worth multiple listens - not something you find very often in a purchase.

I plan to make it a bi-annual read because it is Sanford's best novel. There is much going on with the plot, it weaves around so easily bringing all the characters together in an intricately written plot.

The great characters from Davenport himself, to Grandpa, and the Russian female cop. I mean it was absolutely dazzling. I have now read all of Sanford's books due to the un-abridging bonanza. I would go so far as to say that this book equals or bests
any cop/thriller book on the market.

The usual perfection.

Definitely written with great humor, as are all Lucas' novels.

I promise if you like Davenport's other books it's a no-brainer, if you are new to Davenport this book should give you reason to read more by Sanford.

Stephen and Tabitha King must be extremely proud of their son's writing talent. Heart Shape Box is a stellar debut. What wonderful story-telling. Joe Hill writes nearly as well as his father, and has his father's ability draw on popular culture references with ease and style. Now Hill only has to do it over 30 or 40 books, for 40 more years...lol. Good luck, I am looking forward to reading more from this very imaginative author. My 5 rating is not something I give easily. Also, kudos to Stephen Lang, his narration was smooth and perfect.

The Afghan is Forsyth in top form. His attention to details not only informs but makes the plot even more cohesive and thus rewarding to follow. I have been reading JF since Day of the Jackal, and this book rates as high as any of his superior early works. He seems to be getting better, his research is impeccalbe, and the narrator is superbly low key, letting the story carry the plot and not inventing any unecessary drama.

This is a perfect spy novel. No one captures the nuances and fraility of clandestine life than Le Carre. Unlike other modern spy novelists such as Ludlum, Le Carre's characters are real, very human, and very hard to slot into little predictable holes, ie; they are not superheroes. I also found the narration excellent. Davidson did a materful job of showing the unique personalities of each character. A long and very enjoyable listen.
