"The Science of Success"
A bit of a compelation of Think and Grow Rich and the Secret - all blended together with a few other concepts, motivational teachings... all told, it was one of the BEST and most effective and thought provoking books on success I've read to-date...
The BEST thing is the reminder that WE are in charge of our own destiny and, the reminder that what we wish for, zealously, we achieve.
"Another great for me"
a loveable Character
Not so much on the edge of my seat, more like I was comfortable with the time it was taking to get from there to here.
I cannot tell you my favorite scene. It just all flowed together like a synchronistic and harmonious tale... hmmm, like it should be.
Plus, to be honest, I read it long ago and have been waiting for the next round of Odd Thomas... finally got my wish!
AS I read whilst I drive, I might have lapses in time-flow. So, on a long drive, say, 10 hours or more, I'm reading except when I stop for a rest.
During my day-to-day driving in town, I listen till I stop, put book on hold, start again to the next stop etc until I reach home. The next day is the same.
I don't indulge in more than ONE book at a time and typically take them in the order they're on my Garmin UNLESS there's one that peaks my curiosity as a must/now.
Gotta Love the way to read!
"Next up... Brother Odd"
Ranks high on my list. Loved it
Again, it's dealing with the spirits that have crossed over and may have an issue or three
His whole presentation makes me feel as if HE truly IS "Odd Thomas" and he's just telling his story.
I don't 'read' - I have an auditory disability; I don't recall what I visually read yet, I recall MOST everything I hear - so, I listen, and I listen in my car, beats muzak - boring!
In my car, I can listen and hear and remember every wonderful moment - I love that my Garmin is set up for audio books and no matter where I go, how far or how close, I'm listening to one of my books.
I think for the most part, I've been a member of Audible.com for probably 10 or close to it, years.
It's the only way for me to read & absorb & remember books and I have a voracious appetite.
I put on over 209K miles on my vehicle between 2003/4 to now the END week 2012. I did most of that driving throughout my state... and more.
I never leave home without Audible.com books loaded on some device or other. I can concentrate on the road whilst absorbing great books! a true win/win for me ;-)
"The beginning of Odd Thomas"
It was up my alley; I love ghostly things, I'm amongst them and, work to send them home to the light. So, the Odd Thomas group caused me to feel comfortable and familiar
The way it eased through. Very synchronistic
No; I've only heard HIM read the Odd Thomas books and he's perfect!
I don't know... I don't typically take men to dinner; they take ME to dinner ;-)
With each Odd Thomas, I was left wanting more... now these years later, there ARE two more - I have high hopes for the latest, I read the one prior but didn't care for it as much/see review. Odd Thomas Apocalypse (?)
"Didn't like as much as other Odd Thomas'"
No, yet then, I don't typically re-read ANY of the books I purchase. In this case, for me, it wasn't worthy of a 2nd read. I found it somewhat confusing ...
Absolutely... I have MOST of Dean Koontz collection of works. Yup, there were a few mutts in amongst the purebreeds but then, what IS life for, but to experience it all.
When the book was done
No emotion; a bit of annoyance
By far and large, Dean Koontz is my most favorite author for this genre' (aka weird)
"Tick-Tock -minutes seem to drag"
I found it to be a bit boring, not as dramatic or exciting, a bit of a cliff hanger-awaiting MORE thrills. Like a kiddie-roller-coaster... bring you up but just a little and then send you down and left you there.
"The Art of Racing in the Rain"
Thought this was quite profound, especially from Enzo's point of view & perspective. He has a phenom vocabulary and command of our language. ONE SMART PUP!
I think of this book quite often especially as I quote, "Never Lie To The DOG"... I have never lied to a dog (or, at least a 4 legged one) and if tempted, I cut myself short, apologize and vow to NOT lie... at all.
I DO wonder though, what is different from the 2008 and the newer 2010? version which I added to my wish list..
"Interesting!"
Loved the book... Definately a Koontz Original!
"FANTASTIC-WONDERFUL-SWEET"
Absolutely LOVED this story AND the "reader" - this was so synchronistic - storyline and reader. More like this one would be relished! Definately a HIGHLY PRIZED work in my 'collection' and recommendations
"A Little Slow"
It as - in my belief - NOT up to the typical, anticipated Koontz standard. It WAS interesting and a BIT captivating / MYSTERIOUS However...
"Absolutely AWE ENLIGHTENING - inspiring!"
I'm in my 4th listen (and, I'll keep on keeping ON)! Each round, I hear something else NEW AGAIN and I get excited and pumped AGAIN, AGAIN! What a great and easy to hear and listen to speaker - great personality, as if I'm right there in his live seminar!
