It's Easter in Reading, a bad time for eggs, and no one can remember the last sunny day. Ovoid D-class nursery celebrity Humpty Stuyvesant Van Dumpty III, minor baronet, ex-convict, and former millionaire philanthropist, is found shattered to death beneath a wall in a shabby area of town. All the evidence points to his ex-wife, who has conveniently shot herself.

I was thrilled to find a new Jasper Fforde book on Audible, and can hardly wait for the next Nursery Crime Book. I was surprised to see a remark about no literary illusions in this book! What about little things like Humptey Dumptey's office on Grimm Road? I found the book utterly charming and couldn't put it down. It is different from the Thursday Next series, but just as whimsical.

Sparks fly and computers crash when Claire Maxwell's cybercafe is used for criminal activities. She's thrown into the midst of an undercover operation and doesn't like it one bit. She really doesn't like being thrown in the company of the hot private eye handling the case. Claire doesn't believe in love or happily ever after anymore. Can the handsome P.I. change her mind?

I enjoyed Ms. Novark's "Diamondback Ranch" series, but this book is awful. I didn't like the characters and the story was completely predictable. The narrator made the story worse. Amazing that the story is set in Texas and all the characters sound like they're from north of the Mason/Dixon line. At one point a character is described as having a deep, sexy voice - yet the narrator's voice for the man is higher than the heroine's.

When pro baseball player Chase Walker first meets Amanda at her restaurant, it's love at first sight. While Amanda can't help noticing the superstar with the Greek-god build, he doesn't have a chance of getting to first - or any other - base with her. A successful entrepreneur who built her business from scratch, Amanda doesn't need a Prince Charming to sweep her off her feet. And a curvy girl who likes to cook and eat isn't interested in being around the catty, stick-thin herd of females chasing Chase and his teammates.

I think the summary should have included the fact this story is about a dom/sub relationship. I have no interest in this kind of book. I listed to about 1/2 the book hoping the story would change, then couldn't stomach anymore.

I was actually enjoying the book until the end. In fact, I lowered the number of stars simply because of the ending. It's one of those books that spends a lot of time on telling us why two characters "can't" get together, then they have "amazing" sex, and suddenly all the lies, deceits, and lack of communication don't matter anymore. Their "chemistry" transcends the fact that they never talk to each other, never work anything out, and allows them to instantly 'forgive' all transgressions. Yeah, right! I better stop or I'll lower the star count.

Hot hockey guy falls for insecure babe. OK, I actually like most of the book and found Ellie's insecurities believable. However, in order to throw the final monkey wrench into the plot, the heroine suddenly believes people who have always lied to her, characters who were always straight shooters suddenly beat around the bush, and people stop talking to each other for no real reason except to further the anxiety of our hero & heroine. The last couple of hours of the book ruined what I had previously enjoyed. Too bad.

This is one of those books that had to overcome really poor narration. Maybe Kelly Kamyrn (misspelled on the cover or by audible) would be good for children's books, but definitely not for a book that requires an adult sound. I said 'maybe' because her phrasing if very strange and she mispronounces a number of relatively easy words. My guess -- she didn't read the book before doing the narration. I like Miss Tetreault's writing so I hung in there. If I had a choice, I would have read this book rather than listened to this narrator.

When spontaneous and carefree meets cautious and responsible, falling in love can get just a little Twisted

There are two kinds of people in this world: the ones who look first, and the ones who leap. I’ve always been more of a looker. A planner. Cautious. Then I met Drew Evans. He was so persistent. So sure of himself. He made it easy to leap with him.

Did you think Drew and I were going to ride off into the sunset and live happily ever after? So did I. But life is about choices, and Drew already made his. In fact, he tried to decide for the both of us—but you know that’s not my style. So I came back to Greenville, to spend some time alone . . . sort of.

Because old habits die hard, and sometimes you have to go back to where you began before you can move ahead again.

This book picks up 2 years after Tangled, with Kate's point of view. As in the first book, you have to be able to deal with some graphic sex scenes, but they bothered me more in this book than in the first. Perhaps because it's from Kate's point of view, maybe because it's in the very beginning of the book - left me feeling slam, bam, thank you maam! I don't want to give anything away, but I had real problems accepting Kate's dealing with some things Drew has done. Couldn't buy into it.

There’s nothing worse than living next door to your childhood nemesis, except maybe being forced to share your dream project with him, being blackmailed into going along with something that was just wrong on so many levels, and having your hot cocoa stolen by the person that drove you to drink it in the first place. As long as she has plenty of hot cocoa, a pair of pliers on hand and is able to resist Connor O’Neil’s bad boy charm then Rory James should be able to make it through this project with her sanity intact.

To be fair I have not finished this book. After 1 1/2 hours of listening I had to stop, because I was getting so irritated with all of the charactars I wanted to scream. I really liked the first book in the series, didn't listen to the second because the preview left me cold. One of the reviews I read said this one was very funny and the best of the series, I found nothing funny. As I'm trying to write this review, I want to punch something - that says it all!

I've listened to two other books from Kim Law and I was looking forward to this one - it was a BIG disappointment. I struggled to even finish listening. This is another one of those books that go on and on about staying away from someone, he'll break my heart again, but maybe we could just spend one more night together. Keep repeating this scenario over and over again. Aargh! This couple doesn't communicate, solves all problems by having sex, then lives happily ever after because their 'chemistry' will conquer all. I also, normally, have no problem with Natalie Ross' narration, but this book brought out the worst in both author and narrator. Ms. Ross' phoney sounding laughs exacerbate the irritating story line.

I happen to really like Alison Packard. Her story is the first and the best of the three. If you've read "Love in the Afternoon" & "The Winning Season" you'll recognize a few of the character name - though this is a stand alone novela. The second story is good, but the third brought down my ratings. Didn't like the narrator and I couldn't buy into the story.

I love Jill Shalvis and her Lucky Harbor series, but books 7 and 8 in the series were a disappointment. The characters are not as engaging and the "mystery" in both books was totally predictable. I might get book 9 out of the library, but definitely won't waste an Audible credit. Hopefully, the next set in the series will be back up to the standard of the first 6 books.
