"Outstanding! Pure genius..."
I am currently, at the age of 42, finishing up two bachelor degrees - one in psychology and the other in anthropology. I have also been practicing mindfulness through disciplines like Tai Chi, Yoga and seated meditation for the last 12 years.
I think Siegel has done the most holistic and comprehensive job of covering the power of being mindful, and what it means to our social relationships! There is an amazing amount of digestible information in this book. Highly recommend it! If you are NOT a student of neurobiology you may want to take some notes so as not to get lost; there are a lot of layers to what he is offering within this work.
Keep an eye on this man's work, he is onto some powerful ways of understanding the processes of what it is to be a human being.
"Stands up to its great reputation!"
This book should be required reading for everybody! Our world would be transformed if the application of this information ever became institutionalized. The understandings from this book explain many of the interpersonal conflicts that are plaguing our world today.
"Do not let the title fool you."
If you are interested in the concept of food as preventative medicine, then this book is well worth your time. I am not sure the book's title really does it justice, and actually think many people would by this book if it were marketed under a slightly different title. Dr. Hyman does an excellent job of making a lot of potentially technical information easy to understand. However, on the performance side of things, he does have a quirky little laugh at times (while reading the text) that really does not seem appropriate. Nevertheless, I highly recommend this book! The information within this text should be required of all health care practitioners!
"Should be required reading for all!"
This book lives up to its high reputation! Being a student of psychology and anthropology, I really appreciate Goleman's holistic approach to understanding the complexities to human intelligence and interpersonal interactions. This is a book to study, more than to just read once.
"Empowering Information"
This type of information should be included in the 'manual' of being human. This book is right in line with the most contemporary understandings within human development that states - human are plastic (malleable) in nature.
"Very comprehensive"
A book that all humans should read, especially those that are not concerned about the future of 'water.'
