It's 1963 and Sally Mitchell, the daughter of a New Zealand sheep farmer, is on her way to England. On a stop-over in Sydney, she impulsively takes a job as a governess at Barra Creek, and finds herself in a different world: one dominated by John Monroe and his strict and proper wife, Lorna. Here, Sally's life changes forever. Only Lorna knows the truth of a mysterious death and a terrible injustice. Now, in 2003, she searches for the former governess to and share her horrific secret.

    "Excellent Di Morrissey"

This was a great book. The narrator read it well and you really felt like you knew the characters by sight. The Bay was one of my favourites but this one is up there with it.

  • Robert Altman: The Oral Biography

Robert Altman - visionary director, hard-partying hedonist, eccentric family man, Hollywood legend - comes roaring to life in this rollicking cinematic biography, told in a chorus of voices that can only be called Altmanesque.

    J. Clarke says: "Better Than The Book, With An All-Star Altman Cast"
    "Disappointed"
    Overall

This could have been very interesting but saying who is speaking EVERT time someone said something was very annoying. I don't beleive it was the actual actors narrating it, and it didn't matter, it was disjointed.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Some books are meant to be read; others are meant to be heard – Water for Elephants falls into the second group, and is one of the best examples we have of how a powerful performance enhances a great story. Nonagenarian Jacob Jankowski reflects back on his wild and wondrous days with a circus. It's the Depression Era and Jacob, finding himself parentless and penniless, joins the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth.

    Kindle Customer says: "Great Narration!!"
    "Enjoyable"

This was entertaining. I haven't seen the movie, but the book was great to listen to.
The story line may be a bit predict it was still a nice book to listen.

  • Orley Farm (Dramatized)

    • ORIGINAL (2 hrs and 52 mins)
    • By Anthony Trollope, Martyn Wade (dramatisation)
    • Narrated By Tim Pigott-Smith, Samantha Bond
    Overall
    (8)
    Performance
    (6)
    Story
    (6)

Orley Farm, described as a “[B]rilliantly choreographed legal thriller” (Mail on Sunday), centres on the pathos of the main character, Lady Mason. Youthful marriage choices, middle-aged marital crisis, love and loss revolve around the legal action and the complex portrayal of Lady Mason, who is both sympathetic and wily.

Kim Friedman says: "A Victorian Drama"
    "Disappointing"
    Overall

I feel there could have been more to it.
The end was not the illumination you would have expected from the build up.
