Call Me Irresistible is the book Susan Elizabeth Phillips's readers have long awaited. Ted, better known as "little Teddy," the nine-year-old heartbreak kid from Phillips's first best seller, Fancy Pants, and as "young Teddy," the hunky new college graduate in Lady Be Good, is all grown up now—along with Lucy from First Lady and Meg from What I Did for Love. They're ready to take center stage in a saucy, funny, and highly addictive tale fans will love.

I can't tell you how mad I was with the length of time that we had to wait for a new SEP book. I was completely filled with righteous indignation and was all prepared to scream long and loud if the book was not worth the wait or if a sub-standard narrator had been selected...but oh was that NOT a problem.

I loved this book...and here comes a shocker...I LOVED THE NARRATOR!! I didn't think an SEP audio experience would ever be the same after Anna and I still miss her narrations dearly, but Shannon Cochran who holds her own. And is a reader more than capable of allowing the listener to experience the tale. I hope she is the narrator for the next book. I will definitely be looking for more of her work.

Typically, SEP usually gives us the primary couple's story and then there is a secondary couple...that was missing from this book...and I'm glad...because I wanna know what Lucy was up to...and I want ALL of the details.

I did love the individual characters in the town...but even more so that the town itself took on the role of one of the main characters in the book and not just a setting. There were several characters from previous SEP books that we were able to catch up with...the only one that came off a little different to me was Kenny; I'm not certain what happen there he was a little too "grown up" for me.

There is not much I can say about this book that I didn't like...but SEP be warned...don't make us wait this long again! :)

It begins with a chilling phone call to Casey Woods. And ends with another girl dead. College-age girls with long red hair. Brutally murdered, they're posed like victims in a film noir. Each crime scene is eerily similar to the twisted fantasy of a serial offender now serving thirty years to life - a criminal brought to justice with the help of Forensic Instincts. Call. Kill. Repeat. But the similarities are more than one psychopath's desire to outdo another.

Okay...I'll try my best to avoid spoilers...but it will definitely be hard.

I'm a fan of Andrea Kane and the F.I. series..however...THIS book...took ridiculous too far.
Don't get me wrong...the storyline was pretty good, had some interesting twists and developed at a good pace. Now, for the issues...this book made F.I. seem SO incompetent...I wouldn't hire them to find my lost keys.

You find out a key person...may be more involved in the crimes than originally thought...and yet...no questions are raised when you visit alone.
You sense personal danger...and yet...WHAT DOES IT MEAN?
You have a freakin' vision of what's to come and you don't understand it...
The killer knows where your team lives and yet you don't think they'd become a target.
The list could go on and on and on...

By the time this book got to where you know it was going...I was hoping the victims would simply be killed for sheer stupidity. Sorry, Andrea Kane...this book almost kills my love for team Forensic Instincts...their instincts in this particular book were about as useful as a 100 year old corpse. It was as if the team caught a case of the stupids...what a way to ruin a perfectly good storyline. There is a line between "missing" a clue...and being clueless.

I'm also a bit love/hate on Angela Dawe...she does a superb job with the voices of the characters at least distinguishing male/female...however her voice in the general narration drives me bonkers.

    So in short...
    Narration - 3 stars
    Plot - 4 stars
    F. I. - 2 star

Three years ago, Dare returned home to rural western Montana and opened a hunting business to rival Angie’s. Complicating matters is the fact that Dare has asked Angie out (not once but twice) and has given her a gift of butterflies in the process. Angie has no patience for butterflies. They only lead to foolish decisions. And now the infuriatingly handsome Iraq war vet has siphoned away Angie’s livelihood, forcing her to close up shop. Before Angie is to leave town, she organizes one last trip into the wilderness....

This is the second "so close to great" book from Linda Howard lately. Frustrating when you only get one book from her a year (or more) and then it doesn't live up to expectation.

This book was a bit tough for me and at the end...I was simply disappointed. I was highly anticipating this story...one because of course it's LH; two - book selection for me has been dwindling in the midst of vampires and werewolves, and three - the story line had me expecting this great dash through the woods.

While I like the characters of the book and the plot had promise it was a bit of a lull and then sudden event...and back to a lull. I mean c'mon. All of the action took place in a span of 2 hrs...once in the middle of the book...and at the end. That's all I get...really?? I wish there had been more interaction with the "man killer", that was a major miss for me.

Overall, this book is still enjoyable; but if you are expecting a mad dash (not to ICE's crazy standard) more like Up Close and Dangerous...you won't get. Are there still things about the book to make it worth the listen? Yes...

The suddenness of the events is more like Open Season without the funny. Great book by the way...an unabridged version would be welcome. (Hint, hint)

In the interest of fairness, several of LH's books has the sudden wrap up of the "suspense" factor - and she makes it work. The last two books for me though - have just left me with the impression that there was more that could have been pulled out of the characters/plot...and though enjoyable...not what I was expecting.

New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Andrea Kane brings fans a brand new series with her romantic thriller The Girl Who Disappeared Twice. Forensic Instincts—a team of independent maverick investigators comprised of a techie-genius, a former Navy SEAL/FBI agent, a psychic, and a retired FBI dog—must rescue a kidnapped five-year-old girl. But with so many people who could have benefited from the girl’s abduction, tracking down the culprit will push the team to the limit.

    Overall

All in all, I really enjoyed this book. The plot was very interesting and gripping. Its been a while since we've had a new Andrea Kane book to enjoy and I was not disappointed. This is definitely the first book in a new series and I look forward to reading/listening to more about the characters in this cast.

This story is more suspense than romance and that is a good (love my romance!). I only have two "complaints" about the book - 1) though very well written - and it somewhat understandable in a first in series book - there were a lot of characters introduced, but not much in-depth revelation as to who they are. The pro about that is that the storyline was center-focus and not the cast...but...I like to connect with the characters and that was hard to do...though what we did learn of them was very enjoyable. 2) The narrator - this is not a slight and really goes back to #1 - the narrator did a good job reading the book - but I think (for me) I would have enjoyed a female narrator more or someone who distinguishes the cast through tone of voice. With what he was given to work with, I think he did a great job.

The plot more than made up for these "short-coming" and though I did guess "who-dun-it" half-way through - I did enjoy listening to the story unfold. If you are fan of Criminal Minds, the In-Death Series, or the like...this book should be enjoyable for you (but without the character development). :)

In a selection filled with Vampires and Werewolves (not knocking it, its just not for me) - this was a breath of fresh air!!! I give it 4.5 stars!! (Audible - hint, hint!!)

Jaclyn Wilde is a wedding planner who loves her job—usually. But helping Carrie Edwards with her Big Day has been an unrelenting nightmare. Carrie is a bridezilla of mythic nastiness, a diva whose tantrums are just about as crazy as her demands. But the unpleasant task at hand turns seriously criminal when Carrie is brutally murdered and everyone involved with the ceremony is accusing one another of doing the deed.

I'm a fan of Linda Howard and I'll give just about anything she writes at least one read/listen. While I did enjoy this book, I was somewhat disappointed. Linda Howard is one of those writers who can both invoke laughter and outrage at the characters she creates...and there were spots of that in this story.

I'd so been looking forward to the release of this book...based on the story line, I'd built up my expectations for another DYING TO PLEASE with Susan Ericksen...sadly I didn't get it. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters and the narration was not horrible, but it wasn't Susan Ericksen either.

As I said earlier Linda Howard can really invoke feelings of outrage at some of her male characters, I was really looking forward to being outraged at this bride...but there were not many scenes in which that outrage was felt.

I would have REALLY enjoyed more mysterious in this book...I wanted to be guessing who-dun-it...but all in all I loved all of the characters, the storyline, and I still love Linda Howard...so 4 stars!
