The Carolinas, 1699: The citizens of Fount Royal believe a witch has cursed their town with inexplicable tragedies -- and they demand that beautiful widow Rachel Howarth be tried and executed for witchcraft. Presiding over the trial is traveling magistrate Issac Woodward, aided by his astute young clerk, Matthew Corbett. Believing in Rachel's innocence, Matthew will soon confront the true evil at work in Fount Royal....

    Story
If you could sum up Speaks the Nightbird in three words, what would they be?

The narrator is wonderful. His masterful voice changes kept me listening. The story has an interesting plot. However, in my opinion it took too long to unveil the plot: too much description and mental monologues that did not seem to add anything of value to the story. As a result, I found myself distracted and thinking of something completely different than the story.

What about Edoardo Ballerini’s performance did you like?

Masterful use of different voices, excellent diction, pleasant voice.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. It was a very long book and I listened to it while exercising and driving.
