Being I was in the car and a captive audience, yes. I was very interested to see what Jamie Waterman would be doing in this book and how things would progress on Mars.
The politics! This book became very political which added nothing to the story but showed Ben Bova as being a total left wing looney.
I liked Jamie Waterman in the entire trilogy.
No. It would not make a good movie.
The mars exploration in the book seemed more plausible then the politics. The politics was so far out there it seemed to be more science fiction then the main story. It was a veiled attempt to make the religious right look like a bunch of religious zealots and to show the devastation of man made global warming which is a total hoax.
These are some great little stories of American history which everyone should hear. You'll learn the truth about a number of things in American history from the negotiations that resulted in the very Constitution that created this great nation to the embarrassment that was wounded knee, how O'Hare International airport got its name, right up to how a Vietnam veteran denied entry to the US to the 20th 9/11 hijacker which ultimately led to the death of Bin Laden. An absolutely fantastic read!
This is a great piece of history. Patton was one the greatest military leaders in history, yet he was hamstrung by politicians who got in the way of him doing his job. Millions of people died because we trusted Josef Stalin. Shame on us.
This should be a must listen for all. It is more a mini history of WWII then it is about Patton as some parts don't involve Patton at all but just describe the times in Europe and how brutal they were. Had Patton been running the show in the European theatre, the war likely would have ended sooner and with much less bloodshed. The Battle of the Bulge was totally unnecessary. But this book also shows how a brilliant man who is not afraid to tell the truth is actually denigrated because he says things that are 100% true but that the people in power do not want to hear. Give it a listen, you won't want to stop.
Jonah's secret revealed but you'll never guess!!
A perfect addition to the lost kids series.
If you enjoyed the previous lost kids from history books, you'll enjoy this one. If you are looking for a literary classic, look somewhere else.
Good history lesson. I learned a lot about the issues of the times and things going on in the Kennedy White House.
Killing Lincoln for obvious reasons.
He was OK though it sound like he is droning on at times.
You definitely want to keep listening.
You have to listen to Pandora's Star first otherwise much of the book would be meaningless and I would provide a warning that it goes on forever.
This book would probably be better in a Reader's Digest condensed version. There is just a bunch of subplots which while they get wrapped into the over all plot, they don't really add anything to it other than to make in unreasonably long.
When they finally blew up the bad guys!!
I'm not sure how you would do over 80 hours of a book into a movie and it does'nt really lend itself to being split into multiple movies.
I expect that I will listen to the entire Monster Hunter series again at some point in time as they are just so fun and entertaining!
Earl Harbinger and Agent Franks battling it out to the death. It is an epic battle.
This book focuses on agent Franks and how could you not learn to like him?
Finding out that Agent Franks has a son and then to have that son taken from him. Who would think that Frankenstein's monster could be emotional?
I can't wait for the next installment of the Monster Hunters!!
Very interesting tidbits of American history and how guns helped to shape the country that we are. Without these guns, we would be a far different country and not for the good.
The story is the story of America and how we came to be and how guns helped to form that country that we know and love. Anyone with a love for America will love this book.
It was an excellent performance. Very appropriate for the material.
This book would not be appropriate for a movie but perhaps a documentary diving into each of the 10 guns.
People with a fear of guns should read or listen to this book to see how important the gun was in the formation of this country.
Middle of the pack.
It's like no other book I have either read or listened to.
It's my first John Lee book but he does an excellent job.
Some of the character development is unnecessarily long and adds little if anything to the overall plot and one of those subplots ends as a cliffhanger. What's that all about. It's worth listening to the end but it had it's moments where I wanted to bail out as it is very long.
Jonah and Katherine are the stars of the series and my favorite characters. What one doesn't think of, the other does and they never think about themselves it's always about trying to help others.
A great addition to the Missing Kids series. Provides some history while entertaining in an always unpredictable way. Fun for kids and adults!
I can't comment on how the audio book compares as I haven't read the book.
I just love the entire cast of characters, but Percy and Annabeth are my favorites because of the way they play off one another.
The reading of the book was OK. Nothing special. It would have been nice if the reader put more heart into it. At times it felt like he was just reading the book.
Frank's coming of age was great. There are two scenes where Frank takes charge and destroys armies. He is no longer someone to trifle with.
This is great addition to the Percy Jackson saga. Totally unpredictable and fantastically creative. I can't wait until the next book comes out to see how they deal with Gia!!
