Emma Corrigan has a long list of secrets, one of which is that she is afraid of flying. Coming back from a thoroughly ruinous sales trip to Glasgow, the plane she is on encounters some air turbulence, and she ends up spilling her guts to the handsome American sitting next to her. He gets to hear that she fibbed to get her current job and that she has never been able to satisfactorily find her G-spot. Then, the plane lands...and the American turns up in her life again. He's the CEO of her company....

This book was great! I listened to the whole thing in one day. If you liked the Shopaholic books then you'll love this one. The main character is much more down to earth and likeable than Becky Bloomwood. Although I liked that character a lot too. I laughed out loud so many times. It's a good thing I wasn't on the bus.

Dreamy, scatty, and impossibly romantic, Polly McLaren is a secretary in an advertising agency, but the day a stranger on a train catches her eye, her life changes for ever. This American Romeo, who's recognised her old school scarf, begs Polly to help him find his missing Juliet. Over an intoxicating dinner at the Savoy, Polly agrees to play Cupid and her investigations begin. The last thing she needs now, however, is trouble from the men in her life.

There were several parts of this book that I enjoyed, but the main character was so ditzy and clueless at some points that I felt like giving up on the book because it frustrated me so much. The long-winded descriptions also made it hard to listen to. I felt like fast-forwarding at certain points. It could have been half the length and been much more entertaining. Similar to the Shopaholic series in some ways, although this one was written first. Not the best "chicklit" I've listened to, but not too bad if you're willing to stick it out until the end.

Hot off the success of her best-selling Can You Keep a Secret?, Sophie Kinsella delivers another hilarious Becky Bloomwood novel. When last we left Becky Brandon (nee Bloomwood), she and Luke had just married and she'd unveiled her big honeymoon surprise...around-the-globe plane tickets. World-weary 10 months later, the newlyweds return home filled with excitement to share the details of their amazing escapades.

I enjoyed this lastest Shopaholic book very much, but I found that Becky Bloomwood was at her most irritating in this book. Despite all the trouble she's gotten into in past books she never seems to learn from her mistakes and the mishaps in this book are very similar to those in the other three. i.e. Becky tells a fib and finds things spiralling out of control because of her lie. Of course, she always redeems herself in the end so it's impossible to hate her, but I came really close this time. The introduction of a sister for Becky made for an interesting plot, especially since they're so different. I was very ambivalent about Shopaholic and Sister until right at the end. However, it's a definite must-read if you are a fan of the Shopaholic series.

Six Californians join to discuss Jane Austen's novels. Over the six months they meet, marriages are tested, affairs begin, unsuitable arrangements become suitable, and love happens. With her finely sighted eye for the frailties of human behavior and her finely tuned ear for the absurdities of social intercourse, Fowler has never been wittier nor her characters more appealing. The result is a delicious dissection of modern relationships.

I'm a big Jane Austen fan and I thought this book would bring her works into a more contemporary setting. The book started out slow, but I figured it would get better as it progressed. Unfortunately it didn't. There were snippets of each Jane Austen book and the themes were reflected in each chapter, but the whole concept didn't mesh very well. Too choppy at times as each character's story was being told. I had a hard time keeping everything straight. The narrator's voice didn't help either. She sounded condescending at certain points and just plain annoying the rest of the time. I'd like to give it another try, so I'll probably read it rather than listen to it.
