"Five Stars"
One of the best I have listened to! Laugh out loud funny, and touching at the same time., the story is excellent and draws you in immediately. The narrator was excellent with both male and female characters. I highly recommend this listen!
"Compelling story and performance"
Like the Paris Wife, a compelling story of the wife of F Scott Fitzgerald, and another who suffers as the wife. The narrator does an excellent job with Zelda, though the portrayal of Scott wasn't as good and sounded rather forced. I would recommend this book/listen.
"Couldn't get through it"
I love Ron Silver's narration, but there was just too much anger and weird stuff in the story for me to continue listening. Though I certainly know him by reputation, this is the first Roth book I've 'read' so maybe they are all like this. If i had been actually reading it, I would have skipped ahead in parts but can't do that with my older-style ipod. Maybe someday I will go back to it.
"Perfect.Could have been absurd but was excellent"
I really liked the story and the narration was excellent. The voice was perfect. The story was compellling and fun. I would definitely say this is chick lit. The one flaw in the story is lack of medical attention, but it doesn't really matter in the long run.
"Great Story, Great Narration"
Bronson Pinchot does a great job with all the voices in the story which is compelling and surprising. I very much enjoyed this book.
"so disappointing"
While Scott Brick did such a great job in Lions Game and Night Fall, he is very disappointing here. He makes John Corey sound so smug and totally overreads the character so that he sounds like a SNL character. I had to stop listening after about 35 minutes.
"Was not captivated"
Listened to a good part and then realized I was bored and didn't return to it.
"An Audible Essential"
I found this on the Essentials list -- it's not on there anymore though it should always be there. Best listening experience ever.
"Best ever"
This is so compelling and the narration is the best I've heard. The first part is a little confusing but its not vital to understand every small detail. Then the story totally takes off. Simon Vance is terrific.
"The Best"
This is so good, as is its predecessor, the Girl with the Dragon Tatoo, that even though I have the chance to read the third book now, I am going to wait for the audio version and I pray that it will be same narrator, Simon Vance. The stories are amazing and the reader is without comparison.
