Seventeen-year-old Wyatt Hillyer is suddenly orphaned when his parents, within hours of each other, jump off two different bridges—the result of their separate involvements with the same compelling neighbor, a Halifax switchboard operator and aspiring actress. The suicides cause Wyatt to move to small-town Middle Economy to live with his uncle, aunt, and ravishing cousin Tilda.

Finbar Dolan is lost and lonely. Except he doesn’t know it. Despite escaping his blue-collar Boston upbringing to carve out a mildly successful career at a Madison Avenue ad agency, he’s a bit of a mess and closing in on 40. He’s recently called off a wedding. Now, a few days before Christmas, he’s forced to cancel a long-postponed vacation in order to write, produce, and edit a Superbowl commercial for his diaper account in record time. Fortunately, it gets worse....

One of the best I have listened to! Laugh out loud funny, and touching at the same time., the story is excellent and draws you in immediately. The narrator was excellent with both male and female characters. I highly recommend this listen!

Picture a late-May morning in 1918, a time when Montgomery wore her prettiest spring dress and finest floral perfume - same as I would wear that evening.... Thus begins the story of beautiful, reckless, 17-year-old Zelda Sayre on the day she meets Lieutenant Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald at a country club dance. Fitzgerald isn’t rich or settled; no one knows his people; and he wants, of all things, to be a writer in New York. No matter how wildly in love they may be, Zelda’s father firmly opposes the match....

Like the Paris Wife, a compelling story of the wife of F Scott Fitzgerald, and another who suffers as the wife. The narrator does an excellent job with Zelda, though the portrayal of Scott wasn't as good and sounded rather forced. I would recommend this book/listen.

I love Ron Silver's narration, but there was just too much anger and weird stuff in the story for me to continue listening. Though I certainly know him by reputation, this is the first Roth book I've 'read' so maybe they are all like this. If i had been actually reading it, I would have skipped ahead in parts but can't do that with my older-style ipod. Maybe someday I will go back to it.

I really liked the story and the narration was excellent. The voice was perfect. The story was compellling and fun. I would definitely say this is chick lit. The one flaw in the story is lack of medical attention, but it doesn't really matter in the long run.

While Scott Brick did such a great job in Lions Game and Night Fall, he is very disappointing here. He makes John Corey sound so smug and totally overreads the character so that he sounds like a SNL character. I had to stop listening after about 35 minutes.

Why we think it’s a great listen: How do you one-up a book that’s already a global literary phenomenon? Hire Simon Vance to (flawlessly) interpret the loves, lives, and murders of Sweden’s cold and secret-filled world. A spellbinding amalgam of murder mystery, family saga, love story, and financial intrigue. It's about the disappearance 40 years ago of Harriet Vanger, a young scion of one of the wealthiest families in Sweden.

This is so compelling and the narration is the best I've heard. The first part is a little confusing but its not vital to understand every small detail. Then the story totally takes off. Simon Vance is terrific.

This is so good, as is its predecessor, the Girl with the Dragon Tatoo, that even though I have the chance to read the third book now, I am going to wait for the audio version and I pray that it will be same narrator, Simon Vance. The stories are amazing and the reader is without comparison.
