Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Yes and no. I like the initial story, but the detail on every day things is just redundant. I would recommend it for someone who wanted to meditate on thankfulness,but the rest of it seems like a great short story or blog post. Great message. . . .but too much.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The best part of the story was her initial experience as a child and how she translated gratefulness out of that into every part of her life.
The least interesting was every last detail of mundane things in her life.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Ann Voskamp?

Probably not unless I heard that it was less wordy.

Could you see One Thousand Gifts being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Absolutely! So full of new information and very entertaining.

It was natural and funny.

I wish there was another one. I had to read Killing Kennedy immediately afterward and then I still wanted more. I love his writing style.

Where does The Shack rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I liked the story. As a Christian, it was very allegorical and I could understand it. It was different than other stories I read and so I liked that. I can't rank it as it is so different, but I'm glad I listened to it and I read the book as well.

What did you like best about this story?

The narrator was very good at using different voices.

Which scene was your favorite?

Any scene where God was portrayed as a black woman making food.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

An allegory to understand the love and justice of God.

It reminded me of Mrs. Mike in how a young girl moves to a new place and finds love and a sense of community.

What does Susan Denaker bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She has the beautiful older woman voice that reminds you of a full life.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It did evoke emotion. The war was very sad, but the family had such a sense of togetherness that it was heartwarming. Grandmam was such a loving character for an abandoned girl that it was heartwarming as well.
