The realistic Character portrayals.
Ripping off the head of a child!?!
Her voice gave me a different mental picture of the leading lady than just the words would have done...more approachable.
The ending was a real cliff-hanger.
Well written and read.
I'd try one... but would turn it off immediately if there was the same problem.
Narrator read so slowly that my brain couldn't focus on what she was saying. She would lose me halfway through a sentence. I try to do things while listening, and even sitting still doing nothing but listening... it was painful and impossible to stay focused with her reading.
The moment you realize what Jorge went through as a child to get soooo messed up.
I have not been impressed with a writer or a book in a long time and this one did it! The writing was fabulous... i easily forgot I was reading a book. (which is the point of reading a book) The magic / time - space reality of this book was surprising and although it could have ruined the story in another writer's hands... he not only pulled it off, but did it smoothly! I listened to this book in ONE day because I was so engrossed!
I wish the writer had come up with a different swear word than the"F" word... it would have made this book more recommendable to friends and family.
An actor who natively spoke with a British accent.
A brain stimulation plot-novel.
Stick with American-English unless delivering a "quote" line.
I liked the use of magic and explanation of magical principles.
Novel was weak in character development, depth of characters overall. Did not a feel like the author really had an understanding of era of which she was writing. It felt as though the novel ended abruptly, and the conclusion tie-up was sickly sweet and sill-a-ly "happily ever-after".
The 2 main characters. They are very compelling and able to pull in the reader.
This is my first book read by Kevin T. Collins... and I fell in LOVE! I will now seek out other books he's read just to hear him read! He truly did an excellent job.
Can one man save the universe from destruction?
Book started off slow for me, by skipping some time... but picked up. I ended excited to read the next book.
Maybe. Possibly, the slower sections are easier to listen to than read?
Hunger Game - a government organized hunt/killing game. Ender's Game - Child/Young person alone and expected to outsmart a devious and pitiless enemy.
When Gene is trapped in a dark library with a bunch of blood thirsty vampires.
When Gene is thinking about his life and the audience sees his self-hatred.
In the beginning of this book I didn't think I'd like it. Regardless of faults I found, I am still eager to read the next book.
Yes, it's interesting enough to listen to.
I would recommend with caveat or two. Those being; that the characters in this book seem oblivious to what information they know that they might need to tell someone else about. People were a little clueless to CSI type things, but I had a hard time swallowing that they were as oblivious as the Author painted them.
Voice acting true to characters.
The birth of CSI
It was interesting, but not as fast paced as the murder stories we are used to in the 21st century. Characters are also naive, but true to the times. Annoyingly clueless at times.
The author's use of language and unique way of saying things, and the performers expertise execution.
There is really only one important/favorite character.
I often caught myself frozen and almost holding my breath in anticipation.
Amusing, Light, Farfetched
She spoke certain phrases exactly the way they must have been written to sound.
