The author is the worst narrator I have ever heard. He speaks painfully slowly. You can hear him turn the pages. I really wanted to read this, but I couldn't bear the narration.
yes, It was the most emotionally motivated story thus far in the series.
Can't say without a spoiler alert.
Harry Dresden, of course!
Again with the spoiler.
This book brought tears to my eyes, something that rarely happens, let alone in a Dresden File. Harry had the hardest choices to make of any other of his stories.
I took a chance on this book, trying to explore genres other than detective mysteries and nonfiction. It was definitely worth it. The depth of the characters and the intricacy of plot compelled me to listen way past bedtime. I am not a fan of the Da Vinci Code, and am surprised by the comparisons. The writing is excellent, if a bit immature. But this does not lead to distraction. I look forward to seeing how Ms. Fortier's talent becomes more skilled. Absolutely engrossing!
What a man! I listen to a lot of biographies and loved hearing the details of Paul Newman's life and learning what a nonconformist he was. It was so captivating that I think I listened to the whole thing in 2 days. Well written and read--the icing on the cake.
I did not realize that this was a work of fiction until after I completed listening, but regardless, this is an incredible story. The main character of May and her friends are all completely 3 dimensional. Loved the narration. This is a beautiful, well crafted work of historical fiction.
Bart Ehrman manages to dispute the facts of The Da Vinci Code in the most respectful way possible. He enjoyed reading the Da Vinci Code, but wants to set the record straight so that people don't get their facts from a work of fiction. Plus, as usual you get the usual spate of valuable insight concerning biblical history.
