The event became known as The Pulse. The virus was carried by every cell phone operating within the entire world. Within hours, those receiving calls would become insane, or die.

Never been a Steven King fan but have always loved a post apocalypse story. My family (partner + 2 teenagers) and I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook on a long car trip. The narration perfectly matched the characters and the story. In fact I enjoyed it all so much I listened to it again.

One warning: The first part of the book is very violent. So much so that on first listen we turned to another audiobook. Didn't enjoy that one so we returned to Cell. Got past the initial violence (which is actually essential to the story) and got into the plot and characters.

Why we think it’s a great listen: An all-time Audible favorite that mixes historic fiction, adventure, and romance with one of the most fascinating literary devices: time travel. Outlander introduces an exhilarating world of heroism and breathtaking thrills as one woman is torn between past and present, passion and love. In 1945, former combat nurse Claire Randall returns from World War II and joins her husband for a second honeymoon. But their blissful reunion is shattered....

I wish I'd read the previous review before I wasted my credit. This is not to invalidate the style of the book or it's avid fans but it is, in my humble opinion, targeted at a female audience as it appears to be primarily about a complicated love affair. (And I don't mean to offend any male readers who enjoy this genre).

Perhaps there audio could add some way that the target audience is obvious?
