My pic says it all. That's my dog and he is really barking for me to throw another snowball. Scary looks but really just a playful guy by nature. Been reading sf/fantasy like a power nerd my whole life which is almost 50 years now. I like all sorts of stuff just make the story believable...

In Night Pleasures, Kyrian of Thrace - an immortal who protects humans from vampires - wakes up one morning handcuffed to the one thing that can scare him: a conservative woman in a button-down shirt. But Amanda Devereaux turns out to be his perfect partner for hunting down a deadly foe, and for helping him to regain his soul and learn that love doesn't have to bite.

I love this genre and started with Charlane Harris but have also read several other authors and enjoyed them. But this one was so bad, the heroin is a bimbo idiot and the hero is a paper thin character with nothing to him but abs. The performer makes the heroin into suchs a ditz that I started picturing her as a clueless stripper. The book also has endless amounts of sex and supposed fire between the two leads but it is so boring and redundant that I wondered if the author had ever had sex in her life. Pick any book but this one and save yourself the time and money. I bailed after about an hour. In traffic no less. I was kind of facinated that while being bored out of my mind I was also constantly rolling my eyes.

For nearly 2,000 years, only one Druid has walked the Earth - Atticus O’Sullivan, the Iron Druid, whose sharp wit and sharp sword have kept him alive as he’s been pursued by a pantheon of hostile deities. Now he’s got company. Atticus’ apprentice, Granuaile, is at last a full Druid herself. What’s more, Atticus has defrosted an archdruid long ago frozen in time, a father figure (of sorts) who now goes by the modern equivalent of his old Irish name: Owen Kennedy. And Owen has some catching up to do.

This series reminds me of the True Blood books where they each get progressively worse till you wonder why an author would torment his fans like this. The previous two books in this series were trending down but this one is a huge step down.

You get sick of the many different little story lines all over the planet that just seem like boring filler. One second there in Japan then India, the Colorado, then Arizona, then, etc.... Sheesh, get a plot before you put a book out.

Joey Harker isn't a hero. In fact, he's the kind of guy who gets lost in his own house. But then one day, Joey gets really lost. He walks straight out of his world and into another dimension. Joey's walk between the worlds makes him prey to two terrible forces: armies of magic and science who will do anything to harness his power to travel between dimensions.

I liked the first novel in this series for the battle sequences. But his volume was tedious. If your going to read it skip immediately to Chapter 28. That's where the action starts and you won't miss a thing. This author uses every SF cliche out there. Almost to the point you start chuckling.

The worst is the constantly changing effects of the technologies to make the scenes more exciting. An glaring example was when the human ship was tracking the enemy ship through space. The humans had the advantage of instantaneous travel but for some reason they could barely keep up. It made no sense. The book is filled with these. Sometimes a weapon blows a ship to pieces with ease. Later the same weapon hits it three times and barely damages it.

There is also a lot of filler such as a ten minute explanation on how a persons computer consul operates by soft touches. You see my point.

    This book is drivel.

Few books have captivated the imagination and won the devotion and praise of readers and critics everywhere as has George R. R. Martin’s monumental epic cycle of high fantasy that began with A Game of Thrones. Now, in A Feast for Crows, Martin delivers the long-awaited fourth book of his landmark series, as a kingdom torn asunder finds itself at last on the brink of peace . . . only to be launched on an even more terrifying course of destruction.

I can see why Neil Gaiman likes this guy. He can create a sceen and make it come to life with a creative resonance that is facinating to listen to. Just awesome. However, the reason I only gave it three starts is that nothing really happens in the story and this incredible writing can only get it so far.

In fact, I stopped listening to it about 4/5 through the book, but I plan to get back too it later. One reason was that their is this sex sceen that was just a little too wierd and graphic. But man, can this guy write...amazing.

Civil War ghosts bent on killing me, Skinwalkers who just want my body, and a vindictive spirit linked both to my bloodline and my destiny... Bobby’s wrestling with a few deadly sins of his own - pride, anger, even lust. But his problems aren’t all his fault. Bobby can’t entirely trust his heavenly superiors, and he’s not too sure about any of his fellow earthbound angels either, especially the new kid that Heaven has dropped into their midst, a trainee angel who asks too many questions.

I refereneced the Sandman Slim books in the title but really feel I'm doing Sandman Slim a disservice by even mentioning him in a sentence with this lame book's main character Bobby Dollar.

    Boring, boring, boring.
