Seemed longer.

I wanted to like it based on the excerpt from the book which was the free download for joining Audible.com. I thought that was wonderful.

The rest of the book -- not so much.

Very forgettable.

... Your book just wasn't that great. I wanted to like it, I really did, but let's face it, I really don't care about the exact wording of each oath that every single justice was sworn in with. I really don't care to hear a list of names of justices from the early 1800's that mean nothing to me. I was somewhat excited to get to the part about "humor from the bench"... but, well, it just wasn't even remotely funny.

I got this book because I had so much enjoyed The Oath. I wanted more.

You are a great pioneer for women and I have always admired you, but.. you let me down.

For a while I felt an obligation to keep plowing through it, but after a while, I just couldn't.

I'm about the same age as Anna Quindlen (born in the early 50's), and I could relate to just about everyting she said. Very interesting analysis of the women's movement -- how we got here -- where we are -- and what we still need to do. The only thing I had a problem with was when she talked about our generation having to take care of our parents, and the idea that we shouldn't "become the parents" and tell them it's time to move into assisted living. She argues that they are adults and have the right to make their own decision. It's obvious she never had to make this decision (her own mother died when she was a young woman). She also wants to live right up until the end and then die peacefully in her sleep. Well.... who doesn't???!!! But it was a wonderful, wonderful book, and I really enjoyed listening to it. Not sure if it would appeal to other genders/generations, but it sure hit the mark with me.

I thought this was an extremely unbiased examination of what happened during the 2008 presidential election. Very interesting story -- well researched. Even though I knew "how it turned out" I discovered there was a whole lot I did not know.

Highly recommend -- regardless of your political persuasion.

The 1960 presidential election was the first one I remember. This book is an excellent biography of John F. Kennedy -- full of information I did not know. For example, I had no idea how sickly he was as a child and how many times he almost died from illness. Wonderful poliltical analysis. His early friendhip with Richard Nixon was unexpected as well. I highly recommend this book -- very well done.

The author narrates and does an excellent job. There are quite a few unpronounceable names in the book of the natives of New Guinea, and either the author did an excellent job pronouncing them, or he was very consistent and self-assured in his mis-pronunciation, because it sounded flawless.

Good story of survival in the jungle and a "failure is not an option" type of rescue that had never been done before.

Very well done.

Overall a very good book, nicely narrated. I didn't care for the final scene (don't want to include a spoiler), but that's a personal opinion about how I wanted the story to go.

Good story, well-written... very enjoyable. I have read several of Ann Patchett's books and I really do enjoy her writing.

I doubt I would have finished this book if I'd been reading it rather than listening to it. Stories tend to drift around and characters float in and out.

Rather like a really, really, really long lay-over in an airport.

Story starts off well, drags.. then ends decently.

What a challenge for the author to tell a story like this from the point of view of a woman suffering from dementia! I thought it was very well done, indeed. I loved the very beginning when I didn't know who to trust any more than the main character did.

I finally got tired of the drama in the narrator's tone and gave up. The facts behind this book are interesting -- evidence of Bernie Madoff's Ponzi Scheme is delivered to the SEC three or four times over a period of ten years or so, and nothing happened. I didn't need it made into a "thriller". I enjoyed Michael Lewis' The Big Short MUCH better.
