Given the importance of what they do, and the controversies that often surround them, and the violent people they sometimes confront, it is remarkable that in the history of this country only four active federal judges have been murdered. Judge Raymond Fawcett has just become number five.... Nothing is as it seems and everything’s fair game in this wickedly clever new novel from John Grisham, the undisputed master of the legal thriller.

I'm a Grisham fan, but this latest work was very disappointing. Lacked his normal punch and listening was more of a grind, just to get it done. Story line was more than a little far fetched in my opinion. Narration was slow, halting, and detracted from the story. Don't waste your time.

It’s amateur hour at the White House. So says New York Times best-selling author Edward Klein in his political exposé The Amateur. Tapping into the public’s growing sentiment that President Obama is in over his head, The Amateur argues that Obama’s toxic combination of incompetence and arrogance has run our nation and his presidency off the rails.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

A very unflattering and disturbing description of what happens behind the scenes at the Whitehouse. A must read/listen during this very important time in history and the election process.

September 8, 1900, began innocently in the seaside town of Galveston, Texas. Even Isaac Cline, resident meteorologist for the U.S. Weather Bureau, failed to grasp the true meaning of the strange deep-sea swells and peculiar winds that greeted the city that morning. Mere hours later, Galveston found itself submerged in a monster hurricane that completely destroyed the town and killed over 6,000 people in what remains the greatest natural disaster in American history.

Greg Mefford says: "A wonderful listen"
    "Fascinating Story"
    Overall

Erik Larson is the next David McCullough! Loved The Devil in The White City and Isaac's Storm did not disappoint. I was vaguely familiar with the Galveston Hurricane and this book makes me want to read more about it. A thoroughly entertaining and informative listen. Highly recommend it. Thunderstruck is next on my list.

In the minds of historians and the American public alike, Franklin Delano Roosevelt was one of our greatest presidents, not least because he supposedly saved America from the Great Depression. But as historian Jim Powell reveals in this groundbreaking book, Roosevelt's New Deal policies actually prolonged and exacerbated the economic disaster.

    David says: "Very Important"
"A Must Listen During These Troubled Times"
    Overall

Just finished this book today and it is a must listen during these troubled economic times. The author provides an excellent review of the major New Deal legislation, policies, and players and the effect that these had on the nation's economy. Definitely worth listening to; I'm going to get the print version!
