With so much negativity and political issues regarding what should have been done or should not have been done in this war much of the sacrifices and suffering our soldiers endured is often lost. This book shares many amazing events that these true heroes lived and died through.

I thought that the author and narrator provided an eye opening view into the monotonous and corroding dangers the soldiers faced each day. The emotional, mental and physical toll that the soldiers were exposed to were presented in a way that gave a small glance into not only how it change the soldier’s but also their loved one’s lives. This is one of those books that will stay with me forever and I highly recommend it unless you are faint of heart. Thank you to the soldiers and their families who give so much and often their lives to improve the world we live in.

Mr. Sanderson has written yet another great story. I found it hard to put down and often was thinking about it when not able to listen to it. The character development became richer and richer as the story progressed and there were multiple twists. For me the twists caught me off guard and significantly enriched the quality of the journey. I get disappointed and frustrated when you can see the twists in a story coming and often they don't do much to enhance the story development. In Warbreaker no such issues let down the reader.

I found this book to be a brilliant piece of literature fantasy, which sucked me into a world of mystery, adventure and entertainment. If you have read any of Mr. Sanderson's books you will likely enjoy this one, if you have not this book would be a good introduced to his writing. In addition to the quality of the story the narration by Mr. Yaegashi brings the words, environment and characters to life for the reader. I found it easy to give this book 5 stars on all levels, which for me is not something I often do.

This book will make you see Zombies in a whole new way and introduce you to possibilities you likely never even thought a world with Zombies could include.

Zombies:
Scary? Yes.
Blood thirsty? Yes.
Threat to the living? Yes.
Mindless dead things aimlessly wandering about? Not anymore!

I was quite leery to get this book. Initially I passed, but when it popped up on a sale I decided to take the chance. And I am glad I did! My original hesitancy was that the book would be some kind of washed out drama with a lame zombie twist, but I found myself being highly entertained by an original Zombie adventure. I have read my fair share of Zombie books and I must say this is so far the most original and unique one that I have heard.

Within minutes I was hooked and then I just hung on for the ride. This book takes Zombies to a new level of complexity, but still has biting, chaos, fear, twists, survival, running, twisted governments, good people, bad guys and even family infighting. It is like when my in-laws come to visit, but somehow the author made this experience one I would like to repeat. I would recommend taking the chance on this book. It blew my expectations out of the water and I will keep a look out for more from Daryl Gregory!

This trilogy has won me over and I will be reading a lot more of Jonathan Maberry's writing. He does an amazing job of developing characters that you can't help but love, hate, respect, etc. His writing flows with easy and he kept me enthralled from cover to cover during each of the Pine Deep books. I have read a fair amount of books with aspects of the supernatural, monsters, apocalypse, bad humans, etc., and in my opinion this trilogy weaves a story that incorporates all of these themes and more creating a unique and entertaining journey.

Mr. Maberry is one of the few authors who rewards people who read his books in the correct order by not wasting the first few chapters recapping what has happened in the previous books. In fact he writes this triligy as one seamless book that opens a portal into suspense, adventure and the unknown. Having read many books from these genres I was pleasantly surprised by how good the twists and turns were. I spent a many a night thinking I would just listen to one more chapter and then the next thing I know it would nearly be morning.
Be warned this trilogy is highly addictive and you may want to seriously consider buying all three books at the same time because you are not going to want to have a delay in the action. Hang on and enjoy!

For me this was a highly interesting book. It is written with such detail and parallels many historical events in a way that it had me checking on occasion to make sure it was a fictional book. I think that age/experience does matter with this book. The older you are and the more you lived through the cold war the more likely you will enjoy this book. For me (age 36) the first half, though well written, seemed slow and I had moments struggling to relate to the topics being discussed. The book became much more interesting as the situations and historical reference connected with experiences I recalled from my past.
Regardless of age if you are interested in getting a glimpse of what it may be like inside the CIA and/or KGB this is an excellent book for you. If you are looking for more of a nonstop action spy novel focusing on providing simple entertainment you may want to look else were (i.e. Lee Child, James Patterson, Tom Clancy, etc.)

So far I have fully enjoyed all three of the City of Ghosts books. I can't say enough positive praise about the amazing job that Bahni Turpin does in this series. Her voices make each character unique and come to life. So far over the three books she has not had any trouble keeping her character voices on the mark, which is a problem I have experienced from other narrators in past series.

I do want to warn readers who are more sensitive. The series continues to have plenty of strong language and the main character's drug addiction remains a major part of the story line. One thing that does change in the third book is that Stacia Kane has started to add little bet of intense romance on the edge of porn. There are only two instances that I would say are on the side of pornish, but it does not dominate the story by any means.

I rated this story lower than I did the first two because I did not feel the story was as well put together as the first two and went off on several tangents that in my opinion took away from the story rather than strengthened it. I hope this is not an indication of problems to come with the series as at this time I completely plan to continue listening.

If you are a fan of epic fantasy you owe it to yourself to explore the amazing adventures that Joe Abercrombie has created in his books. All five of his books in audible include wonderful characters that you can't help but love and/or hate. One of my major pet peeves is when an author devotes significant portions of each book recapping what occurred in the ones before it. Mr. Abercrombie is one of the few authors who rewards the readers that follow the progression of his books, but at the same time expertly inter weaves characters, adventures, environments, etc. throughout the whole of his books. He is a true artist when it comes to the development of his characters and the amazing details he uses to create a fantasy that allows the reader to feel part of it.

I highly recommend new readers to read the books in order even though each book is written with such quality that they can be read independently. By following the series it will allow the reader to more fully enjoy the many nuances of each book. Here is the chronologic order:

I can’t wait for Audible to get Red Country as Joe Abercrombie has become one of my favorite authors of all time. I recommend that you be cautious when starting one of these books because you may end up having a hard time getting things done due to not being able to stop listening.

I first want to thank all of the brave soldiers that have served and are serving to allow us to have freedom and to live the American dream.

I found the book to be informative and engaging, but as other reviews have noted Mr. Galloway's narration is hard to swallow. The biggest problem I had with the narration was the lack of emotion along with the same monotone presentation regardless of what was being described. I highly recommend that you listen to the audio sample and take note of the cadence, blunted affect and lack of emotion because the entire narration of the book is read in the exact same way.

One of my favorite aspects of book are the references to the movie as it helped me easily identify the soldiers in the story and the rolls they played in the Vietnam war. About one third of the book focuses on the time these American heroes were fighting in the war and the other two third is more of a biography of Mr. Galloway and several other soldiers’ lives well after the war ended. I think part of my problem was that I expected the book to have the same intensity that the movie presented. I feel that the movie creates a window that allows the audience to get a sense of the insanity and mind boggling bravery these solders engaged in during the battles that they fought and died in.

Even with the poor narration and the lack of eyewitness like experences I still enjoyed the book. It is well written and all of the information is interesting. If you are considering this book with the hope of being drawn back into the time of the Vietnam War and to be able to experience/whitness what these amazing soldiers went through this book may not be for you.

This is a dark story and there is a heavy and constant thread of the main character’s struggles with drug addiction. At times I found the ongoing focus on her drug cravings and symptoms to be distracting, but I think this was in part due to how real/accurate the author portrayed real drug addiction. That being said the author does a great job developing her characters in a way that brings them to life and she created a highly engaging listen. Stacia Kane writes in a way that makes you feel the emotion, which varies from fear, disgust, desperation, addiction and triumph to list just a few.

The story, characters and emotions are made even better by the amazing narration by Bahni Turpin. This is the first time I have heard her narrate and I am so impressed with the skill and energy that she brought to this book I will be looking for other works she has done.

At this time I have only completed the first book of the series, which was well worth the credit. It kept me riveted from the very beginning and the intensity did not diminish. I am excited that Bahni Turpin is the narrator for the remaining four books in the series, which encourages me even more to continue with this series. If you are looking for more of a summary of the story I recommend referring to T. Hernandez’s solid review titled “Not for the faint of heart.”

First of all this is a great listen.

At first I thought this was going to be a typical story about a bad boy warrior who all the girls love and he goes on an epic adventure, which is the type of story I am actually a fan of, but this is not that kind of story. I was surprised by how much the story changed and developed as I listened.

I don’t want to give too much information, but this story becomes a much deeper adventure that involves the struggles of a man learning difficult lessons and fighting his own weakness in order to try to become the man he wants to be. Even though the story gets deep and there is a lot about learning to overcome limitations this is still an action packed adventure. This story has drama, fighting, action, tension, humor and even several types of “love” connections what is not to like!

As I listened to this book I knew I was going to have to write a review to express how impressed I was by the wonderful creation Mr. James W. Huston created. Even though I had a hard time giving this style of a book 5 stars it earned all five of them in each area.

When reading the synopsis of this book I was quiet hesitant to make the leap of using a credit and committing to the 12+ plus hours of my time listening to a book of this type. The positive ratings and reviews convinced me to take the chance and boy was I glad that I did. The author does an amazing job of taking a court battle scenario and putting so much action, twists and intrigue that I found myself looking for ways to get more listening time into each day.

I also greatly enjoyed Mr. Joe Barrett's performance/narration of Marine One. He was able to make the individual characters have distinct voices, styles and speech patterns that enriched the listening experience. He allowed me to feel the different character's levels of intensity, desperation, pompousness, admiration, fear, frustration, joy, etc. with such success that the story came to life for me. If "legal suspense" is a type of book that you enjoy then this is a no brainier, but for all the others out there thinking like I had ("I don't know") I recommend you take the chance and then be ready to clear out your schedule because it is hard to stop listening once you get started.
