"BALDACCI'S ANSWER TO CHILD'S JACK REACHER"
Baldacci's "John Puller" reads suspicously like Lee Child's "Jack Reacher". Army investigator. Check. Coffee jones. Check. Internal Clock. Check. Unusually acute observations. Check.
Despite this vague sense of deja vu, David Baldacci always writes a good story.
I found multiple narrators a little disconcerting. Almost like a "performance" audiobook.
"BAD, BAD AUDIO"
The first story, by Sue Grafton, is a duplicate of a book I bought on here. About halfway through the audiobook...the audio quality drops off to unlistenable.
"SLOW AND TEDIOUS"
Can't see what all the hype is about. After forcing myself to listen for 2 hours, I finally gave up.
Not to wait so long to add any cohesion.
My opinion of the performance was colored by my distaste for the story.
At least an hour from the first 2 hours...I don't know about the rest.
How do I get my money back on the "Great Listen Guarantee"?
"SAVE YOUR MONEY/CREDIT"
Instead of showing a copyright date of 2010...Audible should have explained that this was an early work of Coben's, long before he had perfected his craft.
The writing is sophomoric, predictable ,cliched and dated.
I think I'll read a zombie book. More realistic.
I had thought that Scott Brick could make any book sound good. Even he couldn't save this one.
Nah
Go ahead and buy this book. I love to say "I told you so".
"Not up to standard"
This story is more about "Tequila" than it is about Jack Daniels. I missed her banter in this one.
"THE "RIP OFF" WAS THAT I ALREADY PAID FOR IT!"
If you bought "Absolute Power"...you've already bought and paid for this story. It was used as a trailer. This isn't the first time Audible has pulled this trick.
"DRUM SOUNDS"
Amusing tales. Why is there an an annoyingly FULL 16 MINUTES of disconsantant drum sounds at the end? I kept expecting it to "break out into story" but it never did.
It spoiled it for me...leaving off a good listen with such a disquieting feeling.
"DISTURBING"
Slow start, then non-stop, mind numbing bizarre events. If you like B horror films, you'll like this...only the visuals are all in your mind. Very disdurbing.
"WHAT A WASTE"
Elaine Stritch is fantastic. This story is adorable. The sound quality of this recording is so poor that it's impossible to enjoy.
"HE SAID, SHE SAID"
With 9 out of 10 sentences ending in "SAID", it's too disconcerting to listen to. Poor writing.
