Never mean-spirited or salacious, Lowe delivers unexpected glimpses into his successes, disappointments, relationships, and one-of-a-kind encounters with people who shaped our world over the last 25 years. I rarely give up when starting a new book, but this was just too difficult to follow. I really wanted to like this book. I am an avid Tudor-history reader, but this was just too hard to get in to. I hate that I couldn't keep going, but there's just too many other books other there that i want to start to keeping trying at this one.

Lacey Terwilliger's shock and humiliation over her husband's philandering prompt her to add some bonus material to Mike's company newsletter: stunning Technicolor descriptions of the special brand of "administrative support" his receptionist gives him. The detailed mass e-mail to Mike's family, friends, and clients blows up in her face, and before one can say "instant urban legend", Lacey has become the pariah of her small Kentucky town and a media punch line....

The child of a scheming father and ruthless mother, Lady Jane Grey is born during a time when ambition dictates action. Cousin to Edward VI, Mary I, and Elizabeth I, she is merely a pawn in a political and religious game in which one false step means a certain demise. But Lady Jane has remarkable qualities that help her to withstand the constant pressures of the royal machinery far better than most expect.

  • Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West

    • UNABRIDGED (19 hrs and 41 mins)

    Story
    (2136)

Heralded as an instant classic of fantasy literature, Maguire has written a wonderfully imaginative retelling of The Wizard of Oz told from the Wicked Witch's point of view. More than just a fairy tale for adults, Wicked is a meditation on the nature of good and evil.

Kathleen says: "It's not easy being green"
    "Great book, terrible reader"
    Overall

I really enjoyed the story...wonderful novel by Gregory Maguire. However, I did not enjoy the reader of the audiobook AT ALL. There are too many female speaking lines for this book to read by a man. Listening to an audiobook of this length being read by a man pretending to sound like women is close to unbearable. Unfortunate.

  • I Was Told There'd Be Cake

    • UNABRIDGED (5 hrs and 11 mins)

    (64)
    Story

Crosley can do no right despite the best of intentions-or perhaps because of them. Together, these essays create a startlingly funny and revealing portrait of a complex and utterly recognizable character that's aiming for the stars but hits the ceiling, and the inimitable city that has helped shape who she is. I Was Told There'd Be Cake introduces a strikingly original voice, chronicling the struggles and unexpected beauty of modern urban life.

    Eleanor says: "So self-involved"
    "Less-funny Chelsea Handler"
    Overall

Kinda funny, but really not all that thoughtful. Sloane Crosley has a really similar style to Chelsea handler, but isn't nearly as funny.
