The unconditioned is alive in you” is Eckhart’s message as he exquisitely guides us to go beyond the reactive tendencies and patterns of our conditioning to a knowing of ourselves through the surrendered state of consciousness. Both newcomers and those acquainted with the teachings will find beautiful inspiration as Eckhart deepens our discovery of this great power within us.

Live performances are always iffy, but this one worked. Not recommended if you have not been through his other main books. Mainly for people who like to hear the concept told in a little different way to clarify his points. For me it did, hence the 5 star.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Seabiscuit was a runaway success, and Hillenbrand’s done it again with another true-life account about beating unbelievable odds. On a May afternoon in 1943, an Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean and disappeared, leaving only a spray of debris and a slick of oil, gasoline, and blood. Then, on the ocean surface, a face appeared.....

Amazing biography and well researched. The down side in my mind was the book many times reads as though the narrator is reading an encyclopedia version of the main characters life. Don't know if it the writing style or the narrator's monotone voice. Also just a little too much details in the book that does not add to the story in my mind. The good side of the book is the amazing subject. I am usually not a fan of historical non-fiction but this story was worth it. This book is not for everyone but for many it will be well worth it. I would recommend people read a description of the book prior to buying this one. I try not to do that so I don't spoil the plot, in this case I wish I would have. If there is an abridged version in the future, that would probably be the better choice.

Wow. So glad I pulled the trigger on this book. Everything about this book was well done. Great plot, characters and pace. Could not wait to get back in the car each day. Can not wait to listen to more books from this author. This is well worth a credit.

Why we think it’s a great listen: An all-time Audible favorite that mixes historic fiction, adventure, and romance with one of the most fascinating literary devices: time travel. Outlander introduces an exhilarating world of heroism and breathtaking thrills as one woman is torn between past and present, passion and love. In 1945, former combat nurse Claire Randall returns from World War II and joins her husband for a second honeymoon. But their blissful reunion is shattered....

Seemed to me that the author used timed travel to present her knowledge of the history of 18th century Scottish Highlands. The plot of the fictional characters through the historical descriptions were interesting but quite varied. At times mellow and slowly evolving, then at other times somewhat weird and gruesome. Hard to get a read on the overall theme of the author other than it seems she is bent on describing the historical period with accuracy. This seems to be the priority. That being the case, it was not a five star. Enough though to make me consider the next book. But if the fictional plot doesn't gain momentum on the next book then I will bail.

All in all Steve Fraser had enjoyed his three-year stint in the former Dutch Southeast Asian colony of Sunda, and he’d been well compensated. But now he was looking forward to a last weekend in the capital before heading home. But Sunda was newly independent, and not entirely stable. An opposition faction with fundamentalist Islamic leanings was set on overthrowing the provisional government. And instead of enjoying a sybaritic weekend with the Eurasian beauty Rosalie, Fraser finds himself trapped with her by a fanatical group....

Seemed the book was more bent on describing a piece of history versus developing a plot and building characters. Narration was excellent and that saved the story for me. It wasn't a bad use of 6 hours of my life, but don't start listening to Eric Ambler books with this one.

Nick Paleologus is summoned to the unyielding bosom of his family to help resolve a dispute which threatens to set his brothers and sisters against their aged and irascible father. Michael Paleologus, retired archaeologist and supposed descendant of the last Emperors of Byzantium, lives alone at Trennor, a remote and rambling house on the Cornish bank of the Tamar. A ridiculously generous offer has been made for the house, but he refuses to sell despite the urgings of his children, for whom the proceeds would solve a variety of problems.

If you have not tried Goddard, go for it. If you like his style this book will not disappoint. Few authors can pull off a style that always intrigues the listener and makes one get into the characters. Goddard is exceptional in this regard. All of his books are great buys. This one is no exception.

In the not-so-distant future, the forecasted "death of print" has become a reality. Anana Johnson works with her father, Doug, at the North American Dictionary of the English Language, where he is hard at work on the last edition that will ever be printed. Doug is a staunchly anti-meme, anti-tech intellectual who fondly remembers the days when people used e-mail to communicate - or even actually spoke to one another. One evening, Doug disappears, leaving a single written clue: ALICE - a code word he and Anana devised to signal if one of them ever fell into harm's way.

After losing his leg to a land mine in Afghanistan, Cormoran Strike is barely scraping by as a private investigator. Then John Bristow walks through his door with an amazing story: his sister, the legendary supermodel Lula Landry, famously fell to her death a few months earlier. From David Baldacci - the modern master of the thriller and number-one worldwide best-selling novelist - comes a new hero: a lone Army Special Agent taking on the toughest crimes facing the nation. John Puller is a combat veteran and the best military investigator in the U.S. Army's Criminal Investigative Division. His father was an Army fighting legend, and his brother is serving a life sentence for treason in a federal military prison. Puller has an indomitable spirit and an unstoppable drive to find the truth.

The first few books of Baldacci were amazing. Now anytime I try to get back into his writing it seems a little too cookbook. Narrator was good for the type of book and having two narrators were even better. I was hoping for a leap to the past to his original books. This was note quite it. Not bad though and if you love espionage genre this will be better than most. Just not good enough for me to go to another Baldacci book. Off to another author.

Dubbed the American Tolkien by Time magazine, George R. R. Martin has earned international acclaim for his monumental cycle of epic fantasy. Now the number-one New York Times best-selling author delivers the fifth book in his spellbinding landmark series - as both familiar faces and surprising new forces vie for a foothold in a fragmented empire.

Why I did not know that book five was not the last book I don't know. It should have been evident in book four when the plot stalled out. Book five does a little better job moving the plot forward, at least the last 10% of the book does. Still a lot of fluff. Boring conversations still dominate. I don't remember any of these drag on conversations in the first three books. Someone must have pulled Martin aside after book three and told him there was money to be made if he dragged out the series for a few more books. There is just such a dramatic shift from books 1-3 to books 4 and 5. I have to imagine if he is going to wrap up this series in 7 books, then book six has to refocus the plot when it comes out. If it doesn't, this series may never end. Dotrice is limping to the finish line, not a terrible job, only the female characters suffer greatly. But how is he going to do two more books. A little worried Dotrice skills are on the decline and book six could be ruined because of it. Oh well, too late to change now.
