  • Threat Vector

    • UNABRIDGED (18 hrs and 22 mins)
    • By Tom Clancy, Mark Greaney
    • Narrated By Lou Diamond Phillips
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Jack Ryan has only just moved back into the Oval Office when he is faced with a new international threat. An aborted coup in the People's Republic of China has left President Wei Zhen Lin with no choice but to agree with the expansionist policies of General Su Ke Quiang. They have declared the South China Sea a protectorate and are planning an invasion of Taiwan. The Ryan administration is determined to thwart China’s ambitions, but the stakes are dangerously high as a new breed of powerful Chinese anti-ship missiles endanger the US Navy's plans to protect the island.

Jean says: "Spies and a counter espionage"
What did you love best about Threat Vector?

The storyline was great, it kept me on the edge of my seat!

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The romance storyline. I hated her for abusing Jacks trust.

  • Taken in Death: In Death, Book 37.5

    • UNABRIDGED (3 hrs and 15 mins)
    • By J. D. Robb
    • Narrated By Susan Ericksen

Two young children disappear from their East Side home in New York City, their nanny killed in cold blood. As Lieutenant Eve Dallas begins to unravel the crime scene and search for Henry and Gala MacDermit, she's drawn into the twisted mind of a kidnapper who will stop at nothing to take revenge. Horrific threats concerning the brother and sister hit far too close to home for Eve, drawing her back into memories of her own tortured childhood.

Patricia says: "Was she in a hurry?"
    "Worst performance ever"
Would you try another book from J. D. Robb and/or Susan Ericksen?

Robb maybe, Ericksen absolutely not. Her performance was so bad I didn't want to finish the book. I had to force myself.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The Peabody voice sounded like a stupid teenage boy on drugs. It was so grating.

  • Allegiant: Divergent Trilogy, Book 3

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 55 mins)
    • By Veronica Roth
    • Narrated By Emma Galvin, Aaron Stanford
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

What if your whole world was a lie? What if a single revelation - like a single choice - changed everything? What if love and loyalty made you do things you never expected? The explosive conclusion to Veronica Roth's #1 New York Times best-selling Divergent trilogy reveals the secrets of the dystopian world that has captivated millions of listeners in Divergent and Insurgent.

Judy says: "What a let down!"
"Veronica Roth, did you actually write this?"
    What disappointed you about Allegiant?

Worst ending to a trilogy EVER! Unbelievable that Tris and Four would have that much strife & distrust between them. Entire concept of GD GP is a weak excuse for existence of Chicago experiment. Seems like an entirely different story / author with familiar characters.

Has Allegiant turned you off from other books in this genre?

Have you listened to any of Emma Galvin and Aaron Stanford ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes both. They were great. The story sucked!

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

All three. Four and Tris never completely gave themselves to each other which became much more tragic given the ending. The ridiculous loss of life, Uriah & Tris was unnecessary. The editors should be ashamed to publish such drivel. The entire third book should be rewritten with a completely different storyline.

    Any additional comments?

This is the biggest disappointment ever. I am so sorry I read this book and didn't quit with # 2. I rarely give 5's but I gave 5's to Divergent & Insurgent.
