An absolute disappointment. The readers are the best part of the book. Should of ended in a more conventional way.
Ok, I don't do many reviews on the books I've listened to. However, every once and awhile I feel compelled to do so. I am a mysteries and thriller lover but there were not very many choices left that I have not either read or listened to. When looking for something to listen to while I worked I noticed this book had over a 41/2 rating, I scanned the reviews and was not that sure it would be for me but I bought it anyways. The reader of Alice's voice was slow and bothered me, and I was thinking "Oh No" not another waste of time! Getting past her voice I really started to enjoy the information about the elephants and the characters started to grow on me. I too have an intuitive gift and often wondered if some psychics lose the ability if they abuse it. With these feelings I could not take off the headphones. I thought I knew what the ending would be much like I did with "Gone Girl" which I really disliked. WOW was I shocked! Believe me this does not happen very often, my family hates to watch movies with me and even though endings to a very large percentage of books listened to and read are no surprise to me this one did. Ms. Picoult was masterful into leading me through the story without giving one obvious hint to the ending. I say obvious because looking back after finishing the book I see them now, but in know way did I see any hint because of the way she weaved the story. A bit slow in the beginning, a ton of info about elephants but worth every single minute. I absolutely LOVE to be WOWED.
I did like it! Interesting and kept me on the edge and biting my nails.
I really enjoyed this book. Predictable but still had me interested to the very end. I loved Michael Beck's narration, southern drawl was perfect.
I truly enjoy Scott Sigler's books. This final book in the series is predictable yet still enjoyable. I wish Mr. Sigler would have read this one as with the others but still narrated very well.
I could not stop listening to this book. If you loved "The Help" this book is 1000 times better. The readers were awesome with the distinguishable voices for each character. The author Kathleen Grissom says was channeled by real slaves to write this story, I totally believe her as I have a psychic gift and also meditate. Although this story is so tragic and leaves your mouth open and very sad, I think the souls of the slaves want us to know that love eclipses everything and to keep moving forward. This is one book that I will remember!
Read the reviews and thought this book would be pretty good, NOT! Slow, very slow and just downright not interesting. I gave the performance a 3 just because the reader is better than the story.
I just loved it, couldn't stop listening. I clean when I listen to books on tape, needless to say my house and garage is spotless.
Fast pace and characters.
Love, love, love Clayton!
Yes, I love all his books. No favorites.
Scott Sigler is awesome for getting away from reality. Scott you are th only one who can read your books. I love your voices.
