The second book in the series was as good as the first. This author weaves a fast paced story with characters that come to life. I'm looking forward to the next book.
Not my usual type of book, but I enjoyed it. I actually listened to each book twice, because the first time I rushed through to know what happened so had to repeat to get details. It appears the series isn't over yet either as the epilogue to this book leads into what must be another story building on more characters. The narrator is good, and the stories are different and interesting. My only complaint would be that I would have liked to see characters from previous books in the series, have more depth in the new stories. Worth my credit and my time.
Contrary to most reviews, I liked this book. I did not mind that the first half repeated much of the information from The Countess, because we were seeing it from different perspectives. Once again, the characters were likable, story had enough mystery to make it interesting and it made me laugh. It was worth the credit and I am moving onto the third book immediately.
I didn't give the performance top ratings because although her female voices and variety are good, sometimes her attempts at male voices leave something to be desired.
I enjoyed this book and was surprised at how much it made me laugh-always a plus in my mind. I will be looking for more books from this author. Story ended without solving all the concerns, but one could tell it would lead to the next installment. I thought that was fine, because it completed Richard and Christianna's story quite satisfactorily
This book was not typical in the sense that the hero & heroine were more mature. I liked that! Particularly the sarcastic humor related to being the doddering ages of 39 and 29 respectively. Additionally, the hero had some lovable characteristics (any man who talks to his dog is OK with me :-) and the heroine was not a simpering miss. As always Quick infuses humor which I enjoy. And the intrigue kept me going. I thought I guessed the ending a few times but the twists and turns threw me off enough to make me keep listening. It was worth my credit.
I liked the story quite well, but I didn't care for the narrators interpretation of Alex's voice. It was interesting with a good plot but I finished this one and quickly started the second novel in the series. Underwood does a much better with the Scottish accent of the hero in the second book!
I do recommend starting with this book if you are going to read this series. You will miss too much background if you don't.
I have to say I listened to this one twice, just to make sure I didn't miss anything. Gideon's my favorite character in the series to date. I am glad I read To Seduce an Earl first so that I had the background knowledge that it took to fully understand this story. I liked this and had trouble putting it down to get my work done. It's an odd twist on fiction to follow the male prostitutes in these seduction series stories, but that's part of it's appeal as well since it is fun to have a different type of storyline. Definitely worth a credit!
Fun book. The heroine is not typical, and one finds themselves cheering for her. The interaction between her and the hero is fun. Good read and a bargain because it was on sale!!
Good book to buy on sale. It was nice to have a heroine that was deaf. That was a change of pace. There is enough intrigue to keep one interested. Some of the characters were amusing and others were downright scary. Worth the sale price.
The story was fun to listen to. I always appreciate Garwood's engaging characters and infusion of humor as well as a bit of suspense! I confess I had to go back and relisten to The Bride before I listened to this because they have related characters. I believe that enhanced this story. It was an enjoyable use of a credit.
I was excited to finish this series, but I must admit this book was my least favorite of the series. Once again, characters were great and there are always laughs, but Colin's story got to be a little over the top chauvinistic for me and that says a lot considering the times they are writing about. It was good to see continuing characters and I needed to finish the series; however, book 2 of the series remains my favorite.
