At 6:00 a.m. on the morning of October 3, 2009, Combat Outpost Keating was viciously attacked by Taliban insurgents. The 53 U.S. troops, having been stationed at the bottom of three steep mountains, were severely outmanned by nearly 400 Taliban fighters. Though the Americans ultimately prevailed, their casualties made it one of the war's deadliest battles for U.S. forces. And after more than three years in that dangerous and vulnerable valley a mere 14 miles from the Pakistan border, the U.S. abandoned and bombed the camp.

If you could sum up The Outpost in three words, what would they be?

a "must" for you military enthusiast

What did you like best about this story?

Stories of our troops in action. The politics of some of our decisions. The work of some exceptional soldiers. The sadness of our lost warriors. and the families who endured.

What’s the most interesting tidbit you’ve picked up from this book?

My daughter just returned from working as a soldier at an outpost in Southern Afghanistan. She is a changed person. I doubt if she'll talk about it. But it gives me an insight of what she had gone thru. Short supply of water. Primitive conditions. 4 weeks of no showers nor change of clean uniforms. I could go on but the stories in the book gave me a lot of insight of what she has done and gone through.

    Any additional comments?

Jake Tapper was exceptional in his research. An exhaustive interview of all the soldiers involved. And Narrator Rob Shapiro was outstanding in presenting the material. Held my attention through out the book. Great work. Rob. Thank you Jake, your book came at a good time for me.

Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he’s alive—and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plain old "human error" are much more likely to kill him first. But Mark isn't ready to give up yet. Drawing on his ingenuity, his engineering skills—and a relentless, dogged refusal to quit—he steadfastly confronts one seemingly insurmountable obstacle after the next. Will his resourcefulness be enough to overcome the impossible odds against him?"

If you could sum up The Martian in three words, what would they be?

This story is outstanding and the narration fantastic. I'm sure I'm joining a very large group of fans who are more articulate then I'll ever be. This story had moved me to tell the world or the small world that THE MARTIAN BY ANDY WEIR IS OUTSTANDING. The work of R.C. Bray made the story all that more enjoyable. Not many stories or narrations make me sit up and be willing to write a review. I would agree with the publisher THIS IS A MUST READ OR HEAR. GREAT JOB ANDY thank you for your work.

Would you listen to Kill Decision again? Why?

laughing I dont know why I would listen to it again. I know the plot. But it was an interesting story. In fact I plan to listen to Daniel's other stories.

What other book might you compare Kill Decision to and why?

I would say that Daniel Suarez In my opinion came across as a young Tom Clancy and how he wrote early in his career. Very interesting It was hard to tell where today's science ends and the fiction begins.

Have you listened to any of Jeff Gurner’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Jeff Gurner is new to me. But he did a superb narration. His story telling held me till the end. There was no hint of his being bored with the story. Or with a distracting accent. In fact I rarely write reviews. But I was so excited with the story and how it was told. Here I am writing one of my few reviews.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I would say my reaction was a WOW moment. Daniels Suarez attention to detail and story, kept me riveted to listening at every chance I had. I have to hear his other stories.. As a fan of Drone tech. he has a interesting note that we are not alone in the drone technology.

In a case that spans 20 years, Harry Bosch links the bullet from a recent crime to a file from 1992, the killing of a young female photographer during the L.A. riots. Harry originally investigated the murder, but it was then handed off to the Riot Crimes Task Force and never solved. Now Bosch's ballistics match indicates that her death was not random violence, but something more personal, and connected to a deeper intrigue. Like an investigator combing through the wreckage after a plane crash, Bosch searches for the "black box", the one piece of evidence that will pull the case together.

Armageddon arrived on a weekday, which was really inconvenient for a lot of people, including The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. After their appearance on The Kayla Mangrabler talk show, they decided to go their separate ways and cause as much havoc as possible. Jesus has been stuck at the craps table for three days, sipping vodka and Red Bull, completely missing the end of the world. But he is about to meet up with Death and go on a road trip that will test their resolve and their blood alcohol content.

And she’s drinking copious amounts of caffeine to stay awake because, every time she closes her eyes, she sees him: Reyes Farrow, the parthuman, part-supermodel son of Satan. At first I was a little disappointed that Jim Marsters wasnt narrating the book. However reading some of the later reviews changed that. John Glover did an excellent job....I totally forgot who was narrating and focused on the story. WOW....Jim Butcher writes another great tail. I cant wait to find out what happens next to Harry Dresden. Thanks Jim....Dont stop your stories.

Among the most self-assured and sharply crafted debuts in recent years, Calumet City detonates a Molotov cocktail of character-driven suspense and ghetto-Chicago intrigue. A powerful fiction debut that captures the precise emotional landscape of one cop's hard-bitten life in the trenches. This first-time author joins that rare breed whose fiction is suffused with profound authenticity.

Awesome story...Fast pace. Chicago Police woman with a dark past comes to light. Fantastic narration by Eliza Foss. This book was recommended by my favorite author Lee Child....Wondering how good it could be, one author recommending another?????....I was not disappointed. Charlie Newton really worked his characters well. Looking forward to other audios by this author. Thank you Audible.com.
