  • Cinderella Man: James Braddock, Max Baer, and the Greatest Upset in Boxing History

    • UNABRIDGED (8 hrs and 50 mins)
    • By Jeremy Schaap
    • Narrated By Grover Gardner

Lost in the annals of boxing is the sport's true Cinderella story. James J. Braddock, dubbed "Cinderella Man" by Damon Runyon, was a once promising light heavyweight for whom a string of losses in the ring and a broken right hand happened to coincide with the Great Crash of 1929.

    Marcus Anthony says: "Excellent"
    "A great book for everyone"

Even though this book is about boxing, it is really about people and their struggles in life. It shows how a person can deal with adversity and rise above it.

The book also does a good job covering the depression and the effects on all people.

I can not wait for the motion picture to come out to see if it comes close to being as good as the book.

    A real classy book.

He was born Temujin, son of a khan, raised in a clan of hunters migrating across the steppe. Temujin's young life was shaped by a series of brutal acts: the betrayal of his father by a neighboring tribe, his family left to die on the harsh plain. But Temujin endured, and from then on, he was driven by a fury to survive in the face of death, to kill before being killed, and to conquer enemies from beyond the horizon.

David says: "Move over Bernard Cornwell"
    "Genghis Rules"

What great book. The author takes us back to the early times of Genghis, and how he rose to power. He and his family were left to dies in the wilderness, but he returns to rule the world.

Oliver Stone and the Camel Club are back in their most dangerous adventure yet, a war on two fronts. Casino king Jerry Bagger from The Collectors is hunting Annabelle Conroy, who conned him out of millions. Stone and his colleagues Reuben, Milton, and Caleb marshal all their resources to protect Annabelle. Yet all their skills may not be enough when a deadly new opponent rips off the veneer of Stone's own mysterious past.

    A User says: "Stone Cold"
    "always exciting"

You never know what is going happen next. One of his best books. Alot of action and wondering how everyone will come together in the end. Also Ron M is one of the best readers around. I recommend this book

Fresh from her bruising battle with a psychopath in Florida, Scarpetta decides it's time for a change of pace. Moving to Charleston, South Carolina, she opens a unique private forensic pathology practice, one in which she and her colleagues, including Pete Marino and her niece, Lucy, offer expert crime-scene investigation and autopsy services to communities lacking local access to competent death investigation and modern technology.

Bernie says: "Time to end the series"

I usually like this author. This book spends to much time about her boyfriend and ex husband instead of the store. I could not finish the book. I also did not like the reader of the book

    • Narrated By Holter Graham

Travis Parker has everything a man could want: a good job, loyal friends, even a waterfront home in small-town North Carolina. In full pursuit of the good life, including boating, swimming, and regular barbecues with his good-natured buddies, he holds the vague conviction that a serious relationship with a woman would only cramp his style. That is, until Gabby Holland moves in next door.

    M. Chinander says: "Wow"
    "To predicatable"

This is the first book i did not like from this author. The book is predictable. It also questions the use of living wills. The best thing about the book is that it is short.

News of the sudden death of his childhood friend compels Jono Riley, an aging bartender and part-time actor, to return for a few days to the place where he grew up, the working-class neighborhoods of East Providence, Rhode Island. Author McLarty weaves the story of Jono's return with that of his coming-of-age in the early 1960s, including the story of some mysterious shootings.

    Suzn F says: "AOK Book"
    "Another great hometown tale"

Mclarty does it again. Using the tale of the present with moments of the past. He spins a great tale with a surprise ending. It is easy to associate with his tales of growing up and having best friends. He does a great job of weaving a store , that shows how what has happened in the past effects what is happening today.

Mclarty also is one of the best readers today in the audiobook business.

Traveler is as good as memory of running. I really enjoyed it

  • Wilt, 1962: The Night of 100 Points and the Dawn of a New Era

    • ABRIDGED (6 hrs and 18 mins)
    • By Gary M. Pomerantz
    • Narrated By Roscoe Orman

On the night of March 2, 1962, in Hershey, Pennsylvania, right up the street from the chocolate factory, Wilt Chamberlain, a young and striking athlete celebrated as the Big Dipper, scored 100 points in a game against the New York Knickerbockers.

    William says: "Wilt Scores 100"
    "Wilt Scores 100"

A great book for any sports fan. The Author not only covers the game in which Wilt scored 100 point, against the Nicks, but also does and indepthj analysis of Wilt. He talks about the relationship with Bill Russell, and other players. He also does a good job of including the store of the boy who stole the game ball.

The best part of the book, is the actual recording of the fourth quarter of the game. There was no TV at the game that night at Hersey Pennsylvania, but the actual recording shows the excitement when Wilt scored 100 point so many years ago.

For me it was definitely a five star book.

  • To the Last Man: A Novel of the First World War

    • ABRIDGED (6 hrs and 7 mins)
    • By Jeff Shaara
    • Narrated By Philip Bosco

It is spring 1916, and a stalemate on Europe's western front has descended into horror. France and Great Britain are on one side of the barbed wire, a fierce German army is on the other. Jeff Shaara opens a window onto the otherworldly tableau of trench warfare, as seen through the eyes of a typical British soldier who experiences the bizarre and the horrible - a "Tommy" whose innocent youth is cast into the hell of a terrifying war.

William says: "Shaara good as always"
    "Shaara good as always"

Mr. Shaara does is again! This was a great book. He does not cover all of the first world war, but does a good job of the Red Baron, Gen Pershing, and the common foot soldier,

You can almost place yourself in the trenches. It was also interesting to see the Politics the Pershing had to contend with.

A great book, I hope the unabridged version comes out soon on Audible.

  • Cold Mountain

    • UNABRIDGED (14 hrs and 21 mins)
    • By Charles Frazier
    • Narrated By Charles Frazier
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

One of the most acclaimed novels in recent memory, Charles Frazier's Cold Mountain is a masterpiece that is at once an enthralling adventure, a stirring love story, and a luminous evocation of a vanished America in all its savagery, solitude, and splendor.

    M. Dunn says: "Cold Mountain (Unabridged)"
"Authors should not read their own books."

i am sure this is a very good book, but it is very hard to listen too.
The authors reads his own book, and it is very hard to follow. There are reasons that people are hired to read books. this is one time it should
have happened. My suggestion is to buy the book and read it yourself.
