Behind the Beautiful Forever" is a very jarring book about life in Annawadi, a slum located near the Mumbai airport, just steps away from luxury Indian hotels. This true story chronicles the lives of multiple Annawadi residents who struggle to survive and pray to get ahead in this god-awful community.
I'm a reader, not a writer...I don't think I can do this book justice with a review. I'll just cut to the chase and say I loved it!
John Grisham has delivered a book that keeps you up all night reading. I was captivated from the first page till the last page! Hard time putting it down just like all of his others.
This is one of the BEST books I have read in a long time. One so compelling and transcending that it had me thinking about the book long after it's finish. It is a scope of writing that encompasses so much it's sometimes hard to wrap your head around everything. It is the human condition incarnate.
Powerful book, and must have been a difficult process to put the pen to the paper, I could not put it down. And now I can't stop thinking about it.
I read many books each month, but this one will stay with me for quite some time.
It made me at once ashamed to be a man, to be connected in any way to the perpetrators of such evil,
and also to be buoyed as a part of the human crowd who do such amazing, heartfelt work, my respect doubled for Amanda. What a beautiful soul.
I highly recommend this book. Just a very fun read from beginning to end. Story caught my attention and never let go. Recommend to anyone looking for a great story that you don't want to put down.
The book is easy to read and understand, but there is a bit of dullness at times, however not too preachy, an informational tone overall.
I had a difficult time putting this book down which honestly does not happen often! A must read!
You might need a back-up heart to endure certain pages, relationship between twins and how one twin survived without the other.
Unforgettable and emotional, this is a story recommended for all who are interested in people who survive tragedies and what their experiences can teach us. Not for the faint of heart, however; one cannot leave the story behind without suffering some page. 5 stars
"healing in progress". She expresses her loss so intimately that the reader not only grieves with her, but also heals with her.
Me Before You by Jojo Moyes.
This is one of the best books I have read in a long time. It deals with a difficult subject honestly and prompted me to think about the issues surrounding quality of life. Be warned, not a book to read on public transport unless you don't mind having an emotional melt down in public!!
