When her brother was arrested for murder, the ton shut its doors to Marietta Winters. No one would help her save him from the gallows - no one but Gabriel Noble. In exchange for taking the case, Gabriel requests three favors from the desperate young beauty, and Marietta has no other choice but to make a deal with the sinfully handsome devil. Searching for clues in the rough underbelly of London, Marietta must masquerade as a shamelessly wanton wench - much to Gabriel's delight. But Marietta swears to herself that her passionate moans are just for show.

Victorian romance mixes seamlessly with elegant prose and biting wit—and werewolves—in Gail Carriger’s delightful debut novel. Soulless introduces Alexia Tarabotti, a parasol-wielding Londoner getting dangerously close to spinster status. But there are more important things than finding a husband. For Alexia was born without a soul, giving her the ability to render any vampire or werewolf completely powerless.

This book combines supernatural with good plot, funny moments, and light romance.

The first 15min are a bit boring (not at all indicative of the rest of the book) and the name Tarabotti is a bit irritating to the ear but once you get used to that (10-15m) the book is GREAT!!!
I fell in love with the characters :)

Lacey Terwilliger's shock and humiliation over her husband's philandering prompt her to add some bonus material to Mike's company newsletter: stunning Technicolor descriptions of the special brand of "administrative support" his receptionist gives him. The detailed mass e-mail to Mike's family, friends, and clients blows up in her face, and before one can say "instant urban legend", Lacey has become the pariah of her small Kentucky town and a media punch line....

    Story

I would like to say that I've read the other audio books by Molly and this was the worst.
It took the story 6 hours to get marginally better. For the first 6 hours it detailed without humor or any interesting twists the misery which is being cheated on and divorced from in a small town. Since I am (for now) a married never before divorced female these were painful, dragging, sad, but unable to identify with the character, 6 hours.
Then it got a bit better - the part where she is getting over the sad part and becomes funny aka last three hours...
I would like to point that I've listened to the whole story on a speed of 1.5 or 1.25 (thanks to iphone)
On top of this(!!!) the writer describes the process of book writing in unnecessary/not funny/ little addition to the plot detail at which point I was about ready to go to speed 2.0 aka to skim/skip the book.
My point is - unless you were cheated on or divorced from and would like to rehash those unpleasant feelings (OMG why would you?!?) - do not read this book (if neither of these 2 experiences happened to you do not read this book)
However if you are in the process of recovering from either being cheated or being divorced this book might EITHER give you girl power feeling
OR push you over the edge into depression.
    *****
This being said I did like the other 2 books by the writer - she is funny - even in some parts towards the end of this book and I will buy her work again - though I will read more carefully the plot of the book before jumping into that decision :)

Maybe it was the Shenanigans gift certificate that put her over the edge. When children's librarian and self-professed nice girl Jane Jameson is fired by her beastly boss and handed $25 in potato skins instead of a severance check, she goes on a bender that's sure to become Half Moon Hollow legend. On her way home, she's mistaken for a deer, shot, and left for dead.

The story took HOURS to develop and only became relevant and interesting at about 2 hours before the end of the book which is pretty bad...

To give the book its due where it deserves - the book was funny all the way throughout.
The narrator was alright as well.
I got this for a sale and decided not to return it because I wanted to give this series a chance and really wanted to like it - no such luck

WANTED: Single human female to join charming, wealthy, single male were-cougar for a night of romantic fun - and maybe more. Me: The tall, sensuous, open-minded leader of my clan. You: A deliciously curvy virgin who's intimately familiar with what goes bump in the night. Must not be afraid of a little tail. Prefer a woman who's open to exploring her animal nature. Interest in nighttime walks through the woods a plus. My turn-ons include protecting you from the worst the supernatural world has to offer.

    Story

I want to start by saying this is my type of book. I like these books and I usually enjoy the hot sex, plot twists and funny moments.
Unfortunately, the first five hours had little to no plot development. All the twists came in the last hour. Weak twists with no humor just irritating commentary. The character development was shallow and it was hard to identify with them. The world and its creatures with the intricacies of the relationships was poorly introduced.
The sex scenes were slow to develop and quick to end.
Simply not interesting or exciting. I skipped through several sections hoping it will get better - it didn't even the last 30minutes was choppy and lacking.

Try "dragon bound" if u r looking for a good serier with sex, twists, witty, and entertaining.

Narration - I listened to the Night Huntress series and LOVED the narrator. This book has the same narrator but Bones is not the main male character here and I really didn’t like the voice she did for Mencheres (the main male character in this book)

Story Line – The story line starts slower than usual and it took me good 2-3hours to get into it to a point where I actually wanted to continue listening. Once that beginning was over with the story was fun and exciting as usual. I liked the twists in the story although I could anticipate some of them.

Overall when I was done with the book I was glad I bought it. However, I should mention that I bought this book on sale.

The best book in the series – these books just keep getting better
I have waited for this book for about a year!!! Unfortunately this series (unlike the other ones I listen to) is not complete yet which means there is a lot of anticipation between books.
However, this book was WORTH the wait!!!
There is a bit more information revealed about Charlie’s background and about her protector (son of Satan).
I loved that the book has several story lines which keeps it entertaining and keeps you guessing. Charlie is funny and crazy as always.
Sadly, the book ended too soon and now I will have to wait again until the next one comes out :( wish she could write these faster but maybe then they wouldn’t be as good.

FYI – I really wasn’t all that impressed with the 1st book and the 2nd was alright but the 3rd and this one are AMAZING!

Not sure I can add anything on top of what has been already said but I wanted to write a review on top of giving it 5 stars because the book was that GOOD!
I will say first that I finished the book within 2 days which is saying a lot for a 24h book. And now that it is over I can’t stop thinking about the story. It was amazing! I am afraid to buy the second book because of the mixed reviews it received and I don’t want it to spoil the taste of this amazing book. Yes the book ends with a cliff hanger, I hate when that happens. No the book has NO sex scenes.
The characters are detailed deep and interesting and the story has so many folds that you just can’t wait to hear the next bit of information.
Loved the narrator and the French accent she did (I am not French and have no idea if in fact that is how French ppl speak – nor do I care)
Worth every penny and especially the one credit!
If you can SAVE the book for NEXT year when all 3 books will be available that would be GREAT for you but otherwise just dive in and ENJOY!

Overall if you never read the series this book is ok
HOWEVER, I read all the books prior to this one in the series and I agree with some of the other reviewers:
    1. the begining of this books is TOO similar to the book of Syn
    2. the books are starting to resemble each other
    3. the book lacked depth and developmet of charachters

The good part was that this book didn't have those horror stories about a miserable past :) it had a few references to that but no specific painful details :)

I liked the first book but I didn’t fall in love with it. I decided to give the second book a chance and see how I feel about the series. The second book is AMAZING much better than the first book!!! It is about 14hours long and I finished it in 2 days! I couldn’t put it down because it was so engaging I kept wanting to know what will happen next, the plot twists the romance – it was GREAT!
I love Sin’s and Shahara’s character. They are both strong minded and independent. They had to grow up fast and fight for survival. There are lots of sections that make you smile while others might make you tear up.
I am definitely going to buy the next book in the series and hope it will be just as GREAT.
The narrator was good and I had no problem knowing which character spoke at which instance.
There were several supporting characters that were fun and gave good glimpses into Sin’s past. The characters didn’t feel forced and added to the depth of the story.
To sum my review up – I LOVED THIS BOOK!
