unforunately the plot (boring), the character development (shallow), the settings (not believable) and all the rest- in other words the book itself- just isn't worth the money. Phil Gigante's voice was the only thing that got me to the end of this tedious deux ex machina repeat-o-rama.
I listen to this to fall asleep at night. No, don't misunderstand. It isn't boring. It's sexy and soothing simultaneously. Phil Gigante could read the dictionary and I would listen. Has he done that yet? Is it on Audible? Oh, but the review-right. This book is my favorite in KMM's sexy Highlander series. Finally a book about Adam Black, the mischeivous meddler who thinks he's "all that". He is. In this story his immortal self is humbled, abandoned and made -worst of all- human! What's a fallen god to do? How about stalk and pester the female lead- the only being who seems to be aware of his existence? The characters meet and grow together out of attraction and circumstance; their interactions and dialogue are intense & sensual, erotic at times. I'd label this "romantica". Not for the timid listener... or if you're a little timid, wear your headphones. It works for me.
Yes, I said Turnip. That is the name of the unlikely hero of this clever and lighthearted romance about a true gentleman who may not be so full of knowledge in the noggin, but whose loyalty and good-heartedness wins the female lead (and me!) over completely. Go Turnip, you rock - for King and Country and all that, you know... The narration is excellent and i can honestly say that i have never seen a Christmas pudding used as such a clever and intriguing plot device before.
I have previously read this in paperback & I wondered if a female narrator would be able to pull off the performance of Leo Hathaway, the male lead. I had to get used to her narration, but as in the written version- Leo steals the show. Repeatedly. If you enjoy romance with witty dialogue, well-developed (and stubborn) characters, who are driven by a plot that should not be plausible but is made comepletely real by this wordsmithy author, then this is a book for you. Or perhaps you just like bonnet-eating ferrets... that'll work too. If i had more than two thumbs, it'd be all thumbs up from me.
