In a future uncomfortably close to the present day, the apocalypse has surpassed all expectations. Hideous demons roam the streets in an orgy of terror, drawing pleasure from torturing humans as sadistically as possible. Ira, a young San Francisco artist, becomes involved with a strange group of scientists and philosophers desperately trying to end the bloody siege. But the most shocking revelation is yet to come.

Laurie says: "Tedious and not what I expected"
    "the flaming liberals fight monsters"
    Overall

Oh god what junk. I couldn't finish it. Anytime a book bases its story around pseudo intellectual fringe groups of academe, forget it. I was waiting for one of the whiney narrators to muse, ?but don?t the demon?s have a right to kill us? After all we are dirty usurping, power drunk Americans; that have never done one good thing for the world.? Stale liberal propaganda with a smidge of LSD induced way out sci-fi, and some sex thrown in for good measure. Trust me this isn?t horror; just horrible. It?s merely a political statement masked behind a horror/sci-fi story. It?s Pravda with a light show. I knew I was in trouble when I heard super scenic Harlan Ellison did some of the narration (is there anything that man doesn?t hate?oh yeah?he loves himself that?s right) do yourself a favor, get anything else?anything!!!

If you love writers like Joe Hill, Stephen King, Ray Bradbury, Richard Matheson, Dean Koontz or Joe R. Lansdale, you owe it to yourself to give Evans Light a try…this new voice on the scene packs enough inventive storytelling twists to delight even the most jaded fans of horror and suspense. Screamscapesis a modern collection of uniquely twisted tales to delight even the most jaded horror fan!

Would you try another book from Evans Light and/or Commodore James?

Probably not, this book was suppose to be my cup of tea if I liked King, Hill etc...well it isn't tea, it is swill.

What could Evans Light have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Writing that was on par with who the publishers says it is on par with would be a great start. Professional voice talent is another.

How could the performance have been better?

Hire a professional!!! I wasted a credit on this garbage!!

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Screamscapes?

Everything right after "this is audible"

    Any additional comments?

This sucked, the writing is on par with a 12 year old and the voice 'talent' even worse. Give me my credit back!

The time is now. The place is the Trident, a long-range research vessel hired by the reality TV show Sealife. Aboard is a cast of ambitious young scientists. With a director dying for drama, tiny Henders Island might be just what the show needs. Until the first scientist sets foot on Henders, and the ultimate test of survival begins.

Jennifer says: "Pretty Good but not Stunning"
"I loved this book from start to finish."

A Study in Red - The Secret Journal of Jack the Ripper by Brian L Porter tells the story of Robert Cavendish, a modern day psychiatrist who is bequeathed a strange set of papers which purport to be the journal of the long-dead infamous Whitechapel Murderer whose crimes gripped the hearts and minds and instilled terror on the streets of Victorian London.

Gaither says: "Eerie from start to finish"
"I wish I could get my credits back!"
    Overall

Wow this book is really lackluster. There is very little character development. The dialog and slag for the Victorian era is all wrong. Plot points are repeated unto death! (it is almost as if it were written to be serialized).

The narration is utterly horrible! over acted, over done, and under produced (there is such a thing as a cough button, use it on inhales, and swallows too)

audible should have given me a credit for even considering to give this a listen.

Despite dating one vampire and living with another, Rachel Morgan has always managed to stay just ahead of trouble...until now. A fiendish serial killer stalks the Hollows, claiming victims across society, and the resulting terror ignites a vicious Inderland gang war. And while the ancient artifact Rachel is hiding may be the key to stopping the murderer, revealing it could also create a battle to the death among the numerous supernatural races that live in and around Cincinnati.

Tanya says: "Another great Rachel Morgan book"
    "This vampire story really sucked"
    Overall

Ok, first off, i am assuming that this is part of a series of books and this one must be about ten books in...either that or it was even more disjointed than i thought. the writing style and humor probably appeal to 13 year old girls, or the mentally challenged of all ages. there was so much hippy new age junk that i seriously thought it was a parody...wiccan, fairy, empowered women, drama-queen, buffy the vampire slayer wanna be, junk (the bad thing is, if that sentence seemed normal to you, you'll really dig this book.) do yourself a favor, watch a sitcom instead of getting this book, you'll kill less brain cells

The Silvertree Stronghold is more than just the family estate of the feared and awed Silvertree dynasty, whose wizardly powers and political cunning has survived through many generations. But with their power comes a curse, a curse more terrifying than rival warlords or the mystical threats of the dreaded faceless, an inward corruption of the soul that binds one's power to a downward spiral of madness and magic.

Chris says: "Very hard to follow."
    "hard to follow"

i wanted to like this book since i enjoy forgotten realms; but i just couldn't get into it. i find that audible is sorely lacking in the horror and fantasy department. i was so hoping this book would break the spell. alas, the chain of bad books continues.

From the best selling author of the Song of Ice and Fire series, comes this chilling story of a werewolf. A string of grotesque killings strikes a small town, and private detective Randi Wade is reminded of her father's death over 20 years ago...

Tom says: "Well done Werewolf tale"
    "Rushed, weak, and lazy"

althought i got this book unabridged, i couldn't helpt but feel i got the readers digest version. i seems like a cooked down, scaled back, bite sized version of what could have been a good (mind you only good) story. it was just so two demenisional, there was something beneath the surface...but the book i got wasn't giving it up anytime soon. want a good werewolf story, try reading Wolf's Hour by Robert MacKammon (spelling? it's late)

When Eragon finds a polished blue stone in the forest, he thinks it is the lucky discovery of a poor farm boy; perhaps it will buy his family meat for the winter. But when the stone brings a dragon hatchling, Eragon realizes he has stumbled upon a legacy nearly as old as the Empire itself.

    Sandra says: "Utterly Awesome!"
"Down with the nay sayers! This is a great book!"
    Overall

This is a great book for anyone who isn't jaded by the fantasy genre. i would have only given the book four stars, but i wanted to offset some of the nay sayers; you know the type, they compare every fantasy book they read to giant authors of the genre...then of course sit in there basement apartment and dream of the book they are going to write...one day. of course their mother shouts down the basement step that dinner is ready and they bumble there 35 year old butt up for some grub...but i digress. as for why i would have only given four stars? my same old beef with all fantasy books; dosn't an adult ever find anything they will change the world? don't adults have destinies? that and the narrator sounded like roddy mcdowell.
