"Great Listen-highly recommend!"
This was a totally enjoyable listen. I often found myself sitting in the parking lot at work listening, unable to team myself away to go into the office.
The characters were developed very well, and the plot held me until the end.
"Thought provoking but not entertaining"
I like Grisham because his storys are usually thought provoking AND entertaining. This one was only thought provoking. I very nearly stopped listening about 3/4 of the way through, but I stuck it out figuring he would end it with a flourish. It did begin a slight recovery towards the end, but then fell flat. I would have given it 2.5 stars, but thats not an option, so I only gave it 2 stars because I really don't think it was worth 3.
"Very enjoyable"
A very enjoyable read, I couldn't wait to start Tomo and Hawk! Excellent characters and an enjoyable story. I'd give it 4.5 out of 5 if I could (a five in my book is hard to get)
"Entertaining...but at times slow..."
Overall I enjoyed this book, but at times it did get a little slow. As someone who works in the software field, there were a number of annoying technical problems with the plot, but I was able to put them aside. I always buy the un-abridged versions of books, but in this case, it might be better abridged.
"Very enjoyable listen"
I very much enjoyed this book. I found myself sitting in my car long after I reached my destination to see what happened next. There were a couple of technical flaws in the story that caught my attention, but overall, it had me riveted.
"Thought provoking, but a little depressing"
Overall I really enjoyed this book. It does a good job of getting you into the heads of both sides of the Palestinian conflict, without coming across as advocating for either side. But be warned, it can be a little depressing in parts.
"A whirlwind history tour with excitment to boot"
I haven't read Forsyth in quite a while (over a decade) and as such had forgotten how much detail he pours into his books (either that, or he's changed his style a lot!). He weaves so much history into the telling of this story, that on occasion I found myself saying outloud..."how about getting back to the story!". None the less, the odd times when I felt I was listening to a history professor were countered by an overall good story that kept me guessing and interested to the end.
"Entertaining but not gripping"
Overall I enjoyed this book, but it never really sucked me in. The whole thing brews to a climax that sort of peters out. The characters are well developed, but the plot just lacks substance. For this reason, I give it 3 stars...a middle of the line review.
"OK story...kind of slow...."
I am a John Sandford fan and have never read (listened to) a book by Burke before. I found the story to be pretty slow with not a lot happening and little intrigue. It never really grabbed me, but it wasn't so bad as to lose my attention--merely ok.
I'm not sure I'll read another book by this author again if this is what they are all like.
"Enjoyed it very much"
I enjoyed this book very much. Not sure what the one reviewer meant when they said that the auther kept repeating the same thing over and over...perhaps their mp3 player was skipping?? (Kidding).
I was glued to it.
