When he falls ill on his way home from school, 15-year-old Michael Berg is rescued by Hanna, a woman twice his age. In time she becomes his lover--then she inexplicably disappears. When Michael next sees her, he is a young law student, and she is on trial for a hideous crime. As he watches her refuse to defend her innocence, Michael gradually realizes that Hanna may be guarding a secret she considers more shameful than murder.

    Ella says: "Dysfunctional"
    "Great Drama"
    Overall

I knew nothing of this book when I bought it. It started slowly. Then I was hooked. The characters are well developed and you have so many mixed emotions about every aspect of this book. This book was very well written and covered some very difficult subject matter. In the end it really made you think about the experiences these people had and how they coped with the mistakes that they made.

Marooned on a tropical island, alone in a world of uncharted possibilities, and devoid of adult supervision or rules, a group of British boys begins to forge a society with its own unique rules and rituals.

Raisa says: "Great story - bad narration"
    "Fantastic"
    Overall

I read this book as a child, but I didn't feel the same about it as I do now. I is really compelling and the picture it paints of society is still true today. I have found myself over and over again thinking of this book and how society behaves, it is so poignant. That is why this book is a classic and should be read by everyone.

By the time James Frey enters a drug and alcohol treatment facility, he has so thoroughly ravaged his body that the doctors are shocked he is still alive. Inside the clinic, he is surrounded by patients as troubled as he: a judge, a mobster, a former world-champion boxer, and a fragile former prostitute. To James, their friendship and advice seem stronger and truer than the clinic's droning dogma of How to Recover.

Robert in Denver says: "Waste of time"
    "Not worth your time"
    Overall

This book is a complete waste of time. Unless you are interested in narcissistic, self absorbed jerks who think they deserve some sort of special treatment. Basically this guy is a drug attic and puts his family through hell. Not only is the content superficial, but the writing is infantile and lacks depth.
