Honey Santana, impassioned, willful, possibly bipolar, self-proclaimed "queen of lost causes", has a scheme to help rid the world of irresponsibility, indifference, and dinnertime sales calls. She's taking rude, gullible Relentless, Inc., telemarketer Boyd Shreave and his less-than-enthusiastic mistress, Eugenie, into the wilderness of Florida's Ten Thousand Islands for a gentle lesson in civility. What she doesn't know is that she's being followed by her Honey-obsessed former employer.

    "Zany as usual"
    Overall

I thoroughly enjoyed this book -- but I like the zany aspect of Hiassen's work! As usual, the characters are just at the limit of believable. Their actions are sometimes just past that limit, but enjoyable nonetheless. If you are looking for just plain, fun, this one fits the bill!

With chaos brewing, the governor calls upon Jamie Fraser to unite the backcountry and safeguard the colony for King and Crown. But from his wife, Jamie knows that three years hence the shot heard round the world will be fired, and the result will be independence, with those loyal to the King either dead or in exile. And there is also the matter of a tiny clipping from The Wilmington Gazette, dated 1776, which reports Jamie's death, along with his kin.

    "Where's the unabridged version?"
    Overall

I, too, was disappointed that the only version available was the abridged version. Despite that, I enjoyed it. I just feel I would have enjoyed it more if I had read (listened to) ALL of it!

I agree with the other posted reviews -- this was not J.A. Jance's best effort!

We view the long, horrifying struggle from the vantage of the White House as Lincoln copes with incompetent generals, hostile congressmen, and his raucous cabinet. He overcomes these obstacles by winning the respect of his former competitors, and in the case of Seward, finds a loyal and crucial friend to see him through. This brilliant multiple biography is centered on Lincoln's mastery of men and how it shaped the most significant presidency in the nation's history.

Anders says: "wait for the unabridged version"
    "Great book!"
    Overall

This blook is well written and well researched. Although one knows the outcome before starting, it is quite suspenseful! After listening to it, I have a much clearer picture of Lincoln, his contemporaries and the Civil War itself. I would recommend this book highly.
