"too much too fast"
Not particularly, I liked the setting - just after WW1 - the author created a very interesting setting and it was also very interesting to hear how England life was affected by the war.
Not one particular moment
I'm sorry but Mr Prebble just reads too fast. He does all the characters beautifully but I found I had at times needed to 're wind' to hear what he had said. It made it particularly difficult as there are so many characters and it was quite difficult to keep up with who they were and where they fitted into the story.
I was a bit more used to it by book 2, but still quite difficult to keep up with all the characters.
Best read on long drive when you won't have any interruptions - very hard to keep up with the story otherwise
"A very different Christie"
Having read most of Christie's detective books I found this one a major change. Still a mystery though with no detective taking the lead. Written in first person the husband takes us on a journey with a great twist - just loved it. Hugh Fraser is amazing. So may characters I had to keep reminding myself they were all the work of one man.
I had no idea Agatha Christie had written books such as this, so it is with excitement I head back into the Audible catalogue to search for more of her unexpected and unusual works.
"Book I and 2 a surprisingly good scary read"
Fool Moon ranked highly among all the audiobooks I've read so far.
I really liked the character who is telling the story - although a 'wizard', he presents as a very nice person - simple as that - you appreciate his skills, his humour and his need to earn money to pay his bills like the rest of us,
James Marsters voice makes this story - it could have been just yet another story about vampires, magic and werewolves..but James makes the main character a sane, likeable, down to earth type person - you gotta love him.
A scary book - great fun
Maybe a few too many werewolves in it.........and a bit too much emphasis on stunningly beautiful naked females....tho this is so typical of male writers........they dream....
"murder plus ghost story"
mystery plus plus
when the lake disappears showing what is underneath
looking down into the valley
It was never meant to happen......
loved it!
"Unbelievable......"
The story itself was too unbelievable ...there is no saving this book. Perhaps if the experience had happened to a muslim or buddist family i.e. a direct experience with Jesus, it would have been more credible, the family were strongly christian in the first place.
The book may have been more enjoyable if it was more believable.
There are no problems with the reader, I would happily listen to his voice with other books.
I would never edit anothers book..apparently all the characters were 'real people' anyway.
Very disappointing, but I am sure fundamental christians would love it.
"unusual agatha"
This story takes Hercules away from his usual local murders into the world of espionage. I loved it. Lots of little surprises keeping the pace moving along.
