Get ready for a smorgasbord of delicious suspense prepared by Goldy Bear, an irrepressible mistress of menus and amateur sleuth. Filled with a cast of colorful characters and superb recipes, Catering to Nobody is the first in a series that has made Diane Mott Davidson a best-selling author and the Queen of the Culinary Mystery.

Barbara Rosenblat does an outstanding job narrating this 'light hearted' murder mystery. I love her semi-sarcastic style! The story was not 'corney' although it contained romance, friendship and family love. There were suspenseful scenes and it wasn't easy to figure out the ending! In fact, I didn't figure it out...I had to read it. Quite enjoyable!

"One thing about Cedar Cove - people sure are interested in what other people are doing. Take me, for instance. Everybody in the town knows that my husband, Zach, and I recently got a divorce. Everybody also knows that Judge Olivia Lockhart decreed a pretty unusual custody arrangement...."

I suppose many people enjoy this type of novel, but the characters seemed undeveloped. The book was "corny". You know, everything was to extremes..."so much". I had to stop listening.

It's April, 1988, a month before Kinsey Millhone's 38th birthday, and she's alone in her office doing paperwork when a young man arrives unannounced. He has a preppy air about him and looks as if he'd be carded if he tried to buy booze, but Michael Sutton is 27, an unemployed college dropout. Twenty-one years earlier, a four-year-old girl disappeared. A recent reference to her kidnapping has triggered a flood of memories.

As always Sue Grafton pulls you in and keeps you reading. Good plot, great characters. And I love Judy Kaye as a reader. She makes Kinsey's character come alive!

I would never have guessed this was written by Gilbert Morris. Perhaps it was the reader who ruined the book. His voice would have been great for a murder mystery, but NOT for this....I couldn't even finish the book..

Gentle by name, gentle by nature. Everyone in the sleepy Scottish town of Lochdubh adores elderly Mrs. Gentle - everyone but Hamish Macbeth, that is. Hamish thinks the gentle lady is quite sly and vicious, and the citizens of Lochdubh think he is overly cranky. Perhaps it's time for him to get married, they say. But who has time for marriage when there's a murder to be solved? When Mrs. Gentle dies under mysterious circumstances, the town is shocked and outraged.

W Barry McCue says: "This is just a great story"
    "Enjoyable"
    Overall

I dearly love reading about Hamish McBeth. The books about him, this included, are interesting, make you think. Even though they are dealing with murder they are not "dark" but light. Hamish is a lovable character as are all the regulars. You invariably feel good at the end of the book. I've listened to nearly all of them.
