Minerva marks the delightful debut of The Six Sisters, a family saga in six volumes that will recount the romantic adventures of the six marriageable daughters of a country vicar, the Reverend Charles Armitage, in Regency England. The eldest, Minerva, is enchantingly beautiful - but a prude. She lives in the country looking after her siblings while her mother reclines on a chaise longue happily inventing new malaises.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

the performance was wooden and the tone of voice enough to put one to sleep.

If you’ve listened to books by M. C. Beaton before, how does this one compare?

usually MC Beaton is fun and in this book the heroine is boring and it would be a pleasure to shake her.

Would you be willing to try another one of Charlotte Anne Dore’s performances?

    no

Vanessa Fitzwilliam is in dire straits. Her father's death a year ago left her with a crumbling manor and a handful of old retainers relying on her for support. When the Duke of Northbridge sweeps into her life with a surprise proposal, Vanessa is tempted - but the arrogant duke believes her to be something she's not. Hardened by the ravages of war, Northbridge seeks a wife who will provide him with an heir but make no demands on his emotions. The scandalously experienced Vanessa, neither clinging nor innocent, seems the perfect choice. But Northbridge isn't prepared for her reluctance to accept him....

What disappointed you about The Duke's Blackmailed Bride?

The accent of the narrator was almost unintelligable. This was so heavily accented as to be straight from outside the ton and certainly not"quality".

What was most disappointing about Leigh D' Ansey’s story?

There was no story buildup so who cared about either character.

How could the performance have been better?

If the spoken word was in English and not heavy Irish it would have been understandable.

    Any additional comments?

    BAD

  • The Black Box: Harry Bosch, Book 18

In a case that spans 20 years, Harry Bosch links the bullet from a recent crime to a file from 1992, the killing of a young female photographer during the L.A. riots. Harry originally investigated the murder, but it was then handed off to the Riot Crimes Task Force and never solved. Now Bosch's ballistics match indicates that her death was not random violence, but something more personal, and connected to a deeper intrigue. Like an investigator combing through the wreckage after a plane crash, Bosch searches for the "black box", the one piece of evidence that will pull the case together.

If you could sum up The Black Box in three words, what would they be?

Harry's introspection is getting to take up more and more of the story. Getting old is "hell" but it is for everyone..enough already!

Who was your favorite character and why?

    Harry's daughter..full of life

Have you listened to any of Michael McConnohie’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

no but he put on a good performance with good inflections
